If you come accross someone who is genuanly interested in teaching you they will not only correct you but also teach you why it is correct that way. In our home we speak four languages. In the primary two, we correct each other all day long. The fact is it can be tiresome sometimes, but I will tell you this, I speak and understand new aspects of these languages better each day making the times when I don't want to be corrected all the worth while. It should only bother those who do not whish to grow.

So, you can learn from your mistakes. Most people don't mean to be mean but there are some rude people out there (Wannabe Know-It-Alls but they really don't know it all). Everyone has corrected another person and everyone has been criticized at some point in their life. It's all apart of life. So be thankful for the knowledge you receive, because sometimes it could save your life.

Some people get annoyed when they see words spelled wrong and just have that urge to correct them.

I have a friend that had a spelling disability and I will sometimes correct her and she gets mad.
I do it because I want her to learn how to spell the word right and sometimes I just get annoyed with the errors.

Because its the right thing to do. Because they want better for you and the world around you. Because your fault is either annoying, unneeded, makes you look stupid, risks the health or happiness of others, or just because the fault is in poor taste.

If no one ever said anything to anyone else, and if everyone was too proud to ever take correction the world would be pretty F'd up.

Oh wait, it already is. I guess it all makes sense.

It actually depends on who does it and the way they do it. Some people might just want to tell you the right answer or corect you so you know next tiem but some people want to bea smart *** especially if they correct you in front of a group of people then they just want to make themselves look better.

Because you are wrong. Instead of letting you walk around with false info, they simply corrected you. If you would like to walk around ignorant, then simply tell people to not correct you.

The reasons differ depending on the person's motivation.

Some people do it because it elevates themselves; makes them feel superior.

Some people do it because they sincerely want you to learn. As an example, when you're speaking a foreign language to a native speaker, the person may want to help you perfect your vocabulary.

It depends. If people are correcting "typos" on Answers, then they are just trying to feel better about their pitiful low self esteems. I correct my husband every now and then so that he learns from his mistake and doesnt look foolish in his business world. With other folk, I just let it be because who am I to correct anyone else??

because they want you to improve as a person
if they let u keep making the same mistakes then
other people are just going to laugh at you behind your back
therefore you should thank those people who correct you
because after u are corrected you won't be laughing stock among others

cause you're wrong, and you need to learn what's right. *Person looking over this person's shoulder*: I just corrected one of her mistakes, she wrote "your" instead of "you're". I'm a grammar freak. Some people just like it if everyone speaks correctly. Plus, I kept the person writing this from looking like a moron. :)
