I got -33/2.5 according to my TI-83.


2) -6√x + 1 - 4y^2 when x = 24 and y = -1

I got -5.

2) assuming the x+1 is all under the square root, it would be sqrt 24+1 or sqrt 25 which is 5 and -6 times 5 is -30

-1 squared is +1, times 4 is -4

so it's -30 - -4 which comes out -30 + 4 or - 26

The 1st should be -29 -4/2.5 = -30.6

The 2nd should -30-4 = -34, assuming (x+1)

Thus you got them both wrong.
