I woke up this morning with a "heavy", kinda crampy feeling in my lower abdomen where my baby bump is forming. I've looked online and see that "round ligaments" begin to stretch around 12-14 weeks...yada yada. Is there any cause for this feeling? Is this normal? I've found info on cramps in the EARLY first trimester, but nothing for the latter part. The cramps aren't really bad, more like a dull ache. Does anyone have any experience with this? I'm still paranoid about miscarriage.

Ohhhh trust me on this. It is annoyingly normal. I had SEVERE cramps on my 11th week really bad and I was afraid I was miscarrying, went all the way to the ER over it. It was the same thing they say 'stretching of the abdomen, and uterus' which was heavily annoying, but they also did a internal ultrasound to calm my nerves, which was sweet, I also heard my babys heartbeat then too.

I'm at week 20 now, and guess what, you still get those cramps occasionally, like someone is pulling you at the abdomen. Apparently, women like you and I 'get to start showing later, and are more intune with our bodies' (doctor said it not I!) which you might get to feel the baby 'butterflies' sooner too which is exciting. Don't worry about it. If you are really worried call your doctor/midwife.

Best of luck and congrats!!!

Mild cramping can be normal all the way through the first trimester (and some women have it all the way through pregnancy). Sometimes it can just be your uterus stretching, and sometimes it can be caused by other things like dehydration. However, if you are worried, it's best to call your doctor to discuss it with him/her. Although your chances of miscarriage have lowered by 10 weeks (they lower at 8 weeks, and then drastically at 12-13 weeks), you are still at risk.

But take a look at to not pressure an excessive amount of name your healthcare professional simply to be definite and to set your brain at relaxation. Good success and congrats.

Cramps, pulls, pains, pinches, twinges, aches, really anything is fine in pregnancy. The only thing thats not are endless unbearable contractions paired with bleeding, or colored foul smelling discharge.

Miscarriages are accompanied by things, but there arent really "signs" that one is happening. You'll get cramps, healthy or not.

You're fine. If you're very concerned contact your doctor.
