My children love to drink the water from inside their rubber ducks. I have noticed some grey mould inside the toys. Is this
poisonous? Should I buy them some new ducks or how would I clean them?

after each bath completely drain the toys.
Then give them a good washing in 1 gal . HOT water with 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar and 1 to 2 teaspoons of baking soda mixed into the HOT water . . Rinse then in warm, followed by cold water and let them stand in your sink over night in a position they will drain completely in or let them stand for a hour or two (or more) and use a blow dryer on low or high heat, depending on the thickness and quality of the plastic, to help completely dry them, being sure to aim the air directly into the openings of the toys. Cloth tub toys can be thrown into the dryer to get them good and dry ... ( this method is less harmful to your children than bleach . Bleach can "soak into " or get trapped in the pores of the plastic toys as well as l leave a residue that is as detrimental, and even more so, to your children's health than the molds ) . you can also aid this method by dividing the number of tub toys into 3 groups then alternating each groups use giving the toys in the other 2 groups a couple days to completely dry before they are reused .
Also, the water in the toys can be filled with all sorts of un-health bacteria left over from your children's baths ... allowing them to sit full of water for any period of time allows these bacteria to grow, so they might as well be drinking un-filtered river water ( that might be a bit of an extreme comparison .. but it makes my point)

Mold Free Bath Toys

Run a very hot sink of water and put about a quarter of a cup of bleach in it. Soak the toys in the hot sudsy water. Leave them in until you see no signs of the mold. Make sure you get the bleach water inside of them to soak. And rinse really well afterward. The dishwasher might work also after they are clean inside.

This needs to be done at least once a week to keep them mold free. You can buy new ones, but the same thing will happen when they keep water in them after bathing. Be sure to squeeze the water out so they can dry.

mold in general is not good for people, so I would not allow your kids to do this with moldy toys. unless the toys are going to be dried inside, there really isn't a way to stop mold from growing and buying knew ducks constantly sounds rather expensive. Are there any other bathtoys you could get that they could play with and that are easy to clean?

I always go through and squeeze out all of the water from the bath toys at the end of the bath. When I notice anything yucky in them, or she had a poopy accident in the tub I would suck a solution of 50% bleach and 50% water into them, shake them, set them down for 10 minutes and then rinse them really well. She doesn't drink out of them though.

I would replace them if she drank out of them and try to discourage it in the future.

you need to steralize it really well and then make sure that from now on they don't sit in water after bath time and are able to dry out...drinking water from something with mold in it can make you sick.
