I'm a Boston Celtics Fan. I believe the trade they made was good. Lets get the stars on the team to win right now. Who cares about later down the road... But I believe this team is atleast going to make the playoffs... But are they Pretenders or Contenders to make the NBA Finals?

Second round of the playoffs and thats it

They have 3 superstars who are in their 30s and have logged at least a decade in the league.

2 of them are coming off surgeries...Ray Allen and Paul Pierce

SO lets say this Boston team is gonna play against the Lakers or Heat or Cavaliers or Nuggets....these teams have primetime scorers like Kobe, Wade, Lebron, AI and Melo...who's gonna guard these guys from the Celtics team?

Paul Pierce and Ray Allen aren't exactly known for being good defenders in their primes...so who you gonna put on those scorers? Just the thought of Pierce or Allen guarding either one of those guys makes me cringe cuz they'll take them to school ALL NIGHT

so you need a defensive stopper on the floor...who are you gonna turn to? James Posey is a solid defender but unfortunately he plays the same Shooting Guard/Small Forward positions as Allen and Pierce....so you gonna bench one of those two to let Posey play? Will those former Franchise players do it for the team??

Allen is getting old and he looks a step slower these days...what if he doesn' turn out to be the 20 ppg scorer as advertised?

The Celtics outside of KG don't have an interior presence (not gonna matter much with all the big men ruling the west) so they'll be fine there

The bench is unproven outside of James Posey.

This team has a couple of washed up superstars, and a bunch of players who aren't known for playing defense...and their bench sucks....way too many holes to make noise in the playoffs

Second round of playoffs and thats it.

Personally I think there Contenders, they have 3 great players on there team who avaraged over 20 points per game. The Boston Celtics will probably make it to the NBA finals. It will be hard there are 3 other very good teams. The Chicago Bulls, the Detroit Pistons and the Cleveland Cavs, but we'll have to see until the season starts. Kobe Bryant may go to Chicago. He'll go to the Eastern conference for sure. So we don't know. They added good players other than the big 3. Eddie House, James Posey, Glen Davis. I pick the Celtics to be in the NBA finals but it is too early to tell.

Since K.G. and Ray Allen moved to Boston I'm a Celtic fan again. Not saying I hated them but Paul's injury's hindered him from winning and the team had way to many young players, that puts a big burdon on Paul's career. I even thought that the Celtics were going to trade the All-Star.

I think their contenders. I can't wait for the season to begin. I have marked on the calenders. K.G. took his team to the Western Conference Finals or something like that until Sprewell asked for that ridiculous contract. If he can do that with Sam, and Latrell (don't think I spelled that right), than his odds just got better w/ 2 better sharp-shooters. This would be the biggest disappointment, since the Lakers added Payton, and Malone. To me if they still make the Finals and get bitten in a 7 game series against whoever, their still contenders.

The Celtics will barely make the playoffs and im tryin to be nice. I believe that Paul Pierce is overrated, KG and Ray Allen are great additons but the three of them on a team to win games is not a good idea. They all want the same things but i dont think they can work together to acheive that goal. Thats just my preseason opinion so we'll see once the reg season starts

truth be told...they are contenders.
i don't care what the circumstances are...with KG, Ray Allen, and Paul Pierce, how could they not be? and to top it off, they play in the East. now don't get me wrong, i'm from the East, and I do believe that the Celtics have helped to shift the power in the NBA by landing one of the elite big men in the league.
Only questions are
1- can KG and Ray Allen play their game knowing that this is Pierce's team?
2- Point Guard play has to be "on point" (Pierce takes way too much time dribbling)
3- Can the rest of the team find their place and their role on this team? Doc Rivers' work is not that hard right now. all he has to do is come up with a good game plan.

i would definitely say Contenders.

I think they are PRETENDERS. Yes they will make to the playoffs because the east has at least 3 teams that make it when they are under .500 But to say they will get past Chi, Cle Det, or even Tor I think is absurd. They will be much better next year and will have a big chance at the title. but they do need the experience together and are missing at least one more contribute off the bench. (still hope KG gets 1)

pretenders. They showed this week against the nets, knicks and 76ers that there bench is pathetic. The big 3 can gain a lead but as soon as they r on the bench the game goes to hell.

Danny Ainge is off to a good start. I hear he's trying to sign PJ Brown or Allan Houston, but so far no luck. I say that this year is just a dress rehearsel for next year when they can acquire some more veterans to help them win a 'ship. Good team, i like em, but just not enough depth (they shoulda signed Troy Hudson for the vet min)

I seriously dont think they will make the playoffs. Chemistry is hard to come by. All those players are past there prime who knows how much is left in the tank. I think they are friends which in my point of view is going to cause problems. There is no real leader who can take charge of that team. This will sell tickets but thats about it. pretenders!

they're going to make the playoffs, but they are pretenders when it comes to the finals, they don't have enough depth to be a real contender, they are close though
