I graduated from U of M in 2004. I had a 3.5 GPA out of 4.0. Took 3 AP classes (got 2-5's and a 4), I had a 29 on my ACT and I got in after being on the waitlist for only 2 weeks. I played football and basketball plus I was somewhat active with art. I think if you retake the ACT and get over a 29 you will be considered competitive for UofM. I'm sure since I graduated the criteria for admission have become more stringent. Michigan truly loves diversity on their campus, so you being of hispanic descent will definitely be beneficial for you and UM. Nevertheless, you should always choose a safety school. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

You have a very good chance at U of M, though you do need to raise your SAT score (take the ACT too, perhaps--some people find it easier.) Johns Hopkins is a reach for sure, but you have a shot.

Good grades...extra curricular activities...work...and AP classes...plus a minority...if I were you, let the colleges roll out the red carpet for you!

Congratulations on the hard work! All of these are good schools, and I bet you'd make it to all of these. The big question for you should be which one of these will offer the best financial aid package.

Temple -- absolutely

Penn State -- Probably

Johns Hopkins and Michigan -- your test scores are a little low, but you have a shot.
