This isnt your average ecommerce site, and I caanot learn how to build one like this. I will need an internet publishing copany to build it, but Im scared to tell of my idea afraid that it'll be stolen. Is there a way to protect my ideas althought as of now I cannot start it up? Also, is there a way, if my idea is protected, to easily allow others to invest in it?

If you worry about it too much, the business will never get off the ground. As soon as you go live, thousands of people will see what you're up to and some may copy the idea and beat you to the punch. In other words, no business is secure. If you have something unique to sell, you may have some protection there, but if anyone can get to it, your domination may be very short-lived. You could try selling your idea to an established company, just bite the bullet, or just let it go. I'm not sure what you mean by Internet publishing, but if you're referring to the folks that sell eBooks, they're possibly the most aggressive of all Internet vendors. If you are an author, then you can protect your work under copyright, but if you want to sell other people's products, then all the things I've said above apply. Protecting a work of art is one thing, but protecting an Idea isn't so easy. It will be very difficult to get others to invest in ideas. They usually want to see something tangible. The software you need may already be available in another form. Maybe you need to confide in someone and see if you can get something happening before someone else beats you to it. Go to http://www.hotscripts.com and have a look at the PHP scripts there. Read the details of each script to see if what you want is amongst them.

If the idea is that good, and you are that worried about it, consult with an attorney for legal protection of your idea. A good attorney is the only way you'll be able to get some protection. But, as always, if yor idea is that good, once you launch your site, others will try to copy it. That's the nature of free enterprise.

Have the interested party sign an NDA with you is a form of protection but as the other netter mentioned, you can't be too protective of your 'idea' to move forward.
