I think that my baby is in a tranverse postion, I am 34 weeks and 4 days and I know at this time the baby should be in a head down position. If I tell the doctor about my concern, will they order an ultrasound or palpate my stomach, or will they jus knock it off? and if my baby is transverse this late does that mean a scheduled ultrasound, or what?

when my baby kicks its always on the left side in the middle of my stomac not high not lower and sometimes it on the upper right side right under my breast. no where else i feel movement. ( Im guessing these are kicks beacause they are very strong and the only place where "something" pokes me and you can see it from the outside and small enough to be a foot.

babies turn and flip at any given moment.

I, myself was feet down until a few days before I was delivered- my mom said that the lord turned me around. =)

The doc might do an ultrasound, just to double check, but then again- he might just say, let's see where you'll be a couple weeks down the road. You have plenty of time, don't worry. =D

There are a few things the doctors can do to try and encourage the possibility of a natural birth. If your doctor performs procedures to try and move the baby into a better position and is not successful, he/she will likely schedule you for a cesarean. C-Sections are fairly common for transverse and breech babies and are often times scheduled before active labor sets in, making it a little easier on mom.

Since transverse babies happen in about 1/2,500 pregnancies, there are a lot of resources that will include the mom to be in any activities that will encourage the baby to move into a position for a vaginal birth.

I'm including some resources I found that may help, but honestly the best thing to do is ask your doctor. I know a lot of women feel rushed and like they're 'inconveniencing' their doctors by asking extra questions, but hey, that's what they're there for. Take as much time as you need, and make sure that you understand the answers you get, or ask for the question to be answered in a way that you can understand well.

I'm sure they will do an ultrasound like they always do in late pregnancy to make sure the baby is in the right position. What makes you think the baby is not in the right position? My cousin's baby wouldn't turn and she had to have a c-section. Both her and the baby are fine!

I don't think they'll worry that much about it for the next couple of weeks. Sometimes the baby doesn't get into the "proper" position until the mother is actually in labor. Just to be safe, I would mention it to your doc.

i think they"ll try to move him. but i was transverse at 32 weeks and my midwife said that we"ll wait to move him because as he grows hes going to run out of space and that will make him want to turn himself into the right position. and the next day he did move.
