Hey, a couple of weeks ago I did a physics homework research about the dangers of wireless technology, and I found out quite worrying stuff. It's really annoying because I have wireless internet in my house, and I keep on thinking how the microwaves race through my brain, it's so annoying, could someone please tell me what kind of damage can wireless technology do to me, and how can I prevent it or whatever...

There are people who claim to be "electrosensitive", who claim that they get headaches when wireless networking or mobile phones are used in their vicinity.

However when researchers tested them, by asking them to say whether or not a nearby wireless field (that they couldn't see) was on or not, they didn't get it right any more than would be expected by chance. So the researchers concluded that electrosensitivity is purely a psychological phenomenon.

"Recently there have been concerns risen and research conducted concerning usage of wireless communications and its possible relation to poor concentration, memory loss, nausea, premature senility and even cancer." -- Wikipedia.
Apparently there seems to be little consensus on the dangers of wireless technology -- probably because it's too soon to know the long-term effect the use of such a technology will have upon us. As usual the economic interests take precedence over cautiousness.

More years ago than I care to remember when I was in the forces we were not allowed anywhere near equipment that currently uses wavelengths that are currently being used by mobile phones. I don't know why this was but it seems that the danger was recognised even then although it's being downplayed now.

A year in a classroom with wi-fi is equivalent to 20 minutes of mobile phone use, in terms of exposure to microwaves, and exposure to a moblie phone has been shown to expose a child to 50% of the recommended "safe" levels of microwave exposure (UK chief scietist) which has been declared to be a safe level.

I would be more worried about electro-magnetic exposure, such as living near a pylon and overhead cables.

the only dangers are really hacking and insecurity because of the lack of hard wiring, but this can be prevented by a good and quite long password not relevant to yourself, someone popular (like a celebrity), or anyone related to you.

I guess people could hack into your files and personal information via wireless technology. I think that's only the real threat.

If you don't have a security wall on wireless internet you could leave it open for someone to steal and use your internet without you knowing.
