I think it rocks if that's what they want to do! I also respect the career women too although that has to be stressful if they have a family. I don't know how they do it. Everyone I knew like that though WANTED to be a stay at home mom.

I am a stay at home mom and let me tell after having been a single woman who works, a mom who works, and a stay at home mom a stay at home mom has the most difficult job. There are fewer chances to interact with adults, and the job is a 24/7 thing. No vacation time, no sick days, no paid holidays.
But of the three it has the most rewards. Memories of a lifetime are created every moment of every day and I know what my children are being taught as far as morals go and what they are doing and who they are with.

I want to do it when I have children. I went to a few different daycares when I was very young and they were terrible. I don't trust other people to raise my kids. I just know that when my mom worked a full time job she never had time to do anything and was always cranky when she got home. I think it would just be easier for one parent to stay home and take care of everything. I don't condemn career women though, I think if they actually have a career and a well kept house than kudos to them, I don't know many people that can do it without staying up really late.

Okay I am a stay at home mom...and you know what it is fun and a blast...and challeging all at the same time..
However, hard at first...I worked all my life and supported myself and being a single mom, until I married...and sometimes the not working thing, bugged me, because I was a strong and independent women. I am 39 now, and you know what being a stay at home mom, did have it's up's and down's and it really was not easy to just step into this position..
The big question is what is a stay at home mom?
she does it all and has a little more time to do it than ones that work and rush it all and stay up all night trying to catch up on chores and wake up to do it again...I find being at home is more challenging than work, you get to leave work and leave it all behind you...Here it is constant 24 hours and no bonuses, unless hubby brings roses... :] I have found myself to be less aggravated in life, and not rushed anymore...and happy...and I sell on ebay, I make my own ornaments and have a major profit going on ebay...so not only have I found myself working, I am enjoying doing my job....and thank my husband for giving me this oppurtunity... 2 kids 13 and now 4year old boy and happily married...

I wish I can be a stay at home mom sometimes, but now my son is in full day Kindergarten and I am a single parent. I have to work. Someone needs to bring home the money, to pay rent and bills and food. I am not going to let my 5 year old son, become a child labour like in some parts of the world. I don't mind working. I actually enjoy it.

I am almost 35 years old. I am glad I have my son and I am glad I am working and I am glad that I have gotten pregnant with my son. Women CHOOSE to have a CHILD or NOT that is their decision.

I think I would want to be a stay at home mom for a period of time. When my kids are young, probably until they are about 5 years old. After that, I'd work. Kids grow up, and yeah they need their parents but their friends at school are the people they want to be around.

I can compare my daughter and my oldest granddaughter's step Mom. My daughter is student teaching AND taking classes. She is always busy and stressed. The wicked step mother co-ordinates the schedules of 4 kids, her father in law and does work at home on the computer for her husband. Equally stressed. One wishes she could stay home and the other wishes she could go out of the house to work.

I respect both stay at home and working moms. If I had my choice I would for sure be a stay at home mom. I think that I would be devastated if I missed important parts of my childs life because I was working.

Depends on the person, I personally prefer to stay at home & look after my children until they are of school age & am lucky enough to be in a position to do it - not everyone is though or wants to. I hope to work again once my youngest is at school full time.

I am a stay at home mom and I have really enjoyed the time with my kids. I will go back to work next year when my youngest starts school. I am looking forward to that new phase also. I think we can have it all, it just takes compromise and lots of hard work.

Stay at home moms do more work than the career women most of the time and at least we get paid for what we do.

There are many stay at home moms who do not even get recognition for their efforts.

I wouldn't ever want to be one.
