I don’t think it is the bad spelling, you might be thinking grammar. I was just looking for someone to elaborate on my first question. I was just expression my thoughts without correcting myself. I didn’t know that some people wouldn’t understand my question. I guess some are slower than others. Sorry :)

I am from Ireland and I find that Californians do have a distinguishable accent. It is not so much like the Southern drawl but hugely American in tone and melody.

Of course.
Every region has it's own accent. LA kids say "car" and "mom" far differently than those in the South or the NY-area. There's more, of course. It's the way you say a word, that's used there is an accent. Like the word "wowwwww" as a reaction to someone describing something. Calling a man a "dude" came from LA, and it's still there.. although used throughout the USA now by kiddies, since they're heard it on TV & the movies, etc. Accents are spreading, like that, due to media. There's a "mexican accent" that's all LA... and parodied with low-riders, comedians (don't forget that one). And Southern Cal, is very different that northern Cal.
Even in the age of uptalking teens that end every sentence, like a question?

Hell no. Canadians speak very timidly. Californians are more mellow and free. You dont really have an accent except for pronunciation of some words and some speech is clipped, not elongated and relaxed. California has a distinct speech pattern, not so much an accent.

I have a southern accent and I know it's different. When I went to CA for a visit, I thought the people just spoke normally.

Only ever met two born and bred Californians, most of the rest of them are imports from other States and that tends to dilute any potential local accent.

Sure, everyone has an accent. People on the east coast think that Californians have a sort of a slow drawl, as if they were stoned all the time.

To people within California, we don't have an accent. To people outside, we do. We all think we talk like the newscasters on T.V. but we really don't. We can't hear our own accents.

No offence but going by your bad spelling I would imagine that you do have an accent of sorts. Just a guess.

Depends on where both parties live. Some people think that there are accents in every area.

If your from down south then you have a southern accent.
