Okay. So I went to take a nap today. I know I'm sleeping, but I can see myself sleeping. And then when I try to wake up, I can't. It's like I'm paralyzed. It's creepy. This happens to me a lot...sometimes I hear someone talking to me and I look around and there is no one. When I was younger I once saw someone in the doorway (it was a woman, but I don't know who she was), but again, I was dreaming, but I vividly remember looking at the clock when I saw her in my dream and it said 9:56...I woke up later and looked at the clock and that was the time I woke up. And I always feel like I totally know what's going on, but I just can't move. What does this mean? I feel like I'm going nuts because I always feel like it's somehow significant, but I don't know why I would feel that way

Dream is a word used to describe the subconscious experience of a sequence of images, sounds, ideas, emotions, or other sensations usually during sleep, especially REM sleep. The events of dreams are often impossible, or unlikely to occur, in physical reality: they are also outside the control of the dreamer. The exception to this is known as lucid dreaming, in which dreamers realize that they are dreaming, and are sometimes capable of changing their dream environment and controlling various aspects of the dream. The dream environment is often much more realistic in a lucid dream, and the senses heightened

I can't tell you why you are experiencing this. i would recommend going and seeing a clinical psychiatrist Maybe they could refer you to a dream analyisist who will be able to tell you. E-mail me back in a day or two so that I can do some research on Adler and what he has to say about dreams such as yours. I will try to figure this out. But I don't have a PhD. all I have is a masters.

Forget what everyone else said and go to this Website that explains Night Terrors. It sounds like this is a physiological problem and you'll probably need to go to a neurologist to get a sleep study done.

Maybe you're drifting in and out of consciousness and your brain gets the dream and actual information from your eyes confused. When you dream, your body is naturally paralyzed to prevent you from acting out your dreams.

get good physical excercise for your body...
jog a lpot - do not ever deprieve your brain of good fresh air in any way...

get very strict wakefulness and sleep timings....
like up at 6:30 am, to bed at 9:30 p.m. ..........

sleep clothes & correct amount of darkness and noise...

if this does not fade away.. or really persists, or becomes aggravated, refer to a normal doctor.....get an opinion... about any simple precautions, to make sure that your health is not affected...
