White power groups embrace it like no other flag.

Question is: why is this so? If the flag is innocent, why do white power groups find it so appealing?

The confederate flag has become a symbol that no longer has anything to do with its origional intent. It was just the flag of the confederate states, but has since been used for white supremacy groups and general racism. There is nothing inherantly wrong with the confederate flag, it is just a symbol that many people associate with these extremist group. Kind of like a swastika.

This particular flag is part of American History and many brave American's died for the flag, yet when certain groups take offense to this flag, the politicians in this country scurry to remove this flag from view, because politicians are only seeking to be re-elected and care nothing about our proud history.

I t won't be long before some politician decides that the way to win the White House is to remove the American Flag from view because it offends certain groups of people and without those people's votes, their career in office will cease to exist.

I am a firm believer in the Confederate flag, many of my relatives died fighting for the South during the Civil War and because certain racial groups in my country don't like the flag, they expect us to change our history to benefit them, they can suck.

The confederate states seceded from the union to protect the institution of slavery. Naturally, the descendents of those slaves find the symbol of the confederate states offensive, especially considering it is still flown from state capitals and at NASCAR sporting events, despite what it symbolizes.

if people actually knew what they were talking about, it would never be considered a racist flag. the confederates didnt break off because they wanted to keep slavery, they broke up as a result of sectionalism and the north ruling politics, and producing laws and doctrines to destroy the agricultural south while protecting the industrialized north.

I agree. People just take it as white supremacy. I mean, the Civil War wasn't actually just based on slavery. Many people can't figure this out, and think it's racist or something. I think they need to read Gone with the Wind.

If your "forefathers" died in the name of this war, their only objective was to attain their ideologies of federalism and supremacy. They were willing to die to void my ancestors of their liberties as a human being- their right to love, live, and achieve their full potential. So, the flag to me is pretty much a swastika to a Jewish person... and of course, I resent that symbol as well.
