I am four months pregnant and out of work. I plan to work after my child is born while also attending school. Having the income would obviously help out a lot.

I am already showing and in maternity clothing. Since it may already be obvious to an employer that I'm pregnant can they discriminate against me because of it? Do I have to disclose to them that I'm pregnant? Do they have the right to ask me if I'm pregnant? I do plan to work until I'm ready to deliver and then come back after I've had some time to get the baby setteled.

Thanks for your input!

They legally can not discriminate, but believe me they do. Why would they hire someone they have to let off for 6 weeks over someone they don't have to if you both have the same skills? I found an indefinite temp assignment then was offered a direct hire position, but they didn't know i was pregnant. On the second day I spoke with the lady who hired me about it and she pretty much flew off the roof. I could tell she wanted to yell at me or something, but knew she couldn't. I explained I wanted to stay after the baby was born and I would only be taking a short time off. Well later that afternoon I got a call at home asking why I did not return to work after lunch when I was specifically told that that day was a half day. Needless to say she denied it and fired me. My suggestion is to get in with a couple of temp agencies and do temp work until the baby is born. They will work with you on doc appointments and everything unlike the new jobs will. When the baby is born you can find the job you really want. Good luck and congrats!

No, you do not have to tell them and they do not have the right to ask you. Who knows if they will discriminate or not, some people do and some do not.
All you need is confidence. Tell them what you are able to do. Personally, I would just tell them, it will be obvious anyway. Get it out on the table.
As far as your plans, sometimes they get messed up, no matter what we want or plan to do. Anything can happen while pregnant. I was planning to work up until the end and couldn't. I also plan to go back to work after 6 weeks, but who knows?
Either way, good luck and I hope you get the job!!!!

I wouldn't tell them i was pregnant, because as others have stated they will discriminate on you and you won't be able to prove discrimination. Hide it unless it interferes with your job, then tell them. Employers don't usually like to hire pregnant women b/c they leave and sometimes company policies obligate them to pay for maternity leave and a replacement meanwhile.. So if I was you I wouldn't tell them. And try not to wear maternity clothes when you go to an interview...

You only have to tell them if it will effect your ability to do your job!! They cannot by law discriminate against you but most places will!! I have had phone interviews while pregnant and did great but as soon as they saw me it was a different story!! Keep trying though... I found a job now that is allowing me to bring the baby to work with me after he is born!!

initially, you're able to truthfully divulge to any potential corporation which you're pregnant. i'm no longer too useful of the criminal implications in case you do no longer, yet i contemplate whether they could no longer hearth you for witholding that tips (in line with danger they might't -- i do no longer understand, yet i does not opt to be certain in that way, this is for useful!). besides, whether they might't permit you bypass while they discover out, they could be pissed off approximately it, and which could make working there very awkward, turning a dream job right into a nightmare. i think of you're able to persist with. The worst they might say isn't any, yet while they arrive to a sort to no longer take you on because of the fact they might practice you for a little while and then lose you, they in all probability won't permit you realize this is why you probably did no longer get employed. merely don't be stunned in the event that they arrive to a sort to bypass with somebody else. I merely at the instant found out i'm pregnant with our 2nd infant, and that i'm nevertheless on mat bypass faraway from my first! I had to bypass returned to my corporation, and ask if i could come returned early and get sufficient hours in to bypass returned on mat bypass away previous due this summer. i develop into so embarrassed. "good day, i understand i would be leaving returned for yet another 300 and sixty 5 days suitable away, yet i choose you to furnish me my job returned, ok?" luckily, I unquestionably have an surprising boss who develop into extremely joyful to have me returned, and excited approximately my being pregnant. besides, if it somewhat is a great danger, choose for it. you're unhappy, and that's undesirable, surprisingly once you're pregnant. i opt to advise being in strengthen, and in the event that they think of you're nevertheless an suitable in good condition for their corporation, they might desire to hire you on. suitable of success! and congratulations. :)

No, you don't have to say anything. It would be discrimination for an employer to deny you a job solely because of your pregnancy, but it might be difficult to prove that's why you didn't get hired if it happened. If possible, I'd save talk about your pregnancy and postpartum plans for after you are hired into the company. Good luck and congrats!

OK, you do not have to tell them you are pregnant. They can not by law ask if you are pregnant. And they can not NOT hire you because you are pregnant. They can however choose another candidate and never tell you a reason why you did not get the job. Hope this helps...and good luck

Technically, they can't discrimate against you for that, but they might and you may not know.

I'd be up front with them. Tell them you're pregnant but want to work until it's time to deliver, and that you plan to come back after you give birth. Just don't expect maternity leave benefits or anything like that. They may like you and decide to hire you, or they might not think it's worth training you only to (possibly) lose you permanently.

At my old job, we hired a woman who was pregnant. She was up front about it, said she was due in August and would be back after delivery. We hired her, and she did come back. Some people don't.

It is illegal for them to ask about your pregnancy or anything pertaining to it... If they do ask tell them that it is illegal for them to ask you and to please continue the interview... If you don't get the job, but believe the reason is because of discrimination, you have the right to consult the Equal Employment Opportunity and report the employer and may have a legal case against them.
