Catcher in the Rye. Way too long and drawn out. Kind of like a run on sentance.

Lynda, you and I share the same sentiments about Faulkner. I thought that The Sound and the Fury was a bit overrated. It may be excellent, but I just can't get into it. Same goes for Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse, as well as The Great Gatsby (although I'm going to give that last one another shot, since I read it when I was 14.)

I know that they aren't books, but they came in our high school textbooks, but I'd have to say that the most overrated thing I've read is pretty much anything and everything by William Shakespeare... except Julius Caesar. That one was sort of cool.

Also, for some reason, I couldn't really get into The Grapes of Wrath either.

Just about any book by Stephen King. I can't remember how many I've started and then just put down after reading 3/4 of the book. I won't even pick up one of his anymore.

Memoirs of a Geisha was the most difficult book I can remember reading. I had to fight with myself to finish it. I'm not the type of person who can stop reading a book or watching a movie. I have to finish them, no matter how bad they are, and that one was a real struggle.

Frankenstein. I got the point about 1/3 of the way through and it was just plain tedious through to the end.
