U.S.A. Must read?????

Okay here is a really dumb question. What is the proper name for this country? Is it (The United States of America), (The United States), or (America)??????? I know we live in North America, there is also Central and South America. I know we have 50 or so states in this country, its that why they call it The United States of America because they are all united. Would that make the name of this country simply America???? I know is a stupid question. Thanks.

Canadians are Americans and also Canadians.
Mexicans are Americans and also Canadians.
Citizens of USA are Americans.

An American is someone who lives in North America, South America, or Central America, legally or illegally, because we are in the Continents of America.

The Nation of USA ... the correct name is The United States of America, but many people use a shortened form, or a name used by people from other nations such as "The Colonies" or "The New World" or "The Great Satan" depending on where they hail from.

I have seen others with the same confusion. America is acceptable but the proper name is The United States of America. If you think about what we call ourselves, Americans, then America is acceptable. We do not call ourselves United Statesiens. I know that there is South America and there is Central America and that Mexico and Canada are part of North America but to call the U.S., America is perfectly acceptable.

The United States of America.

The name "America" and "Americans" gets a lot of slack because people from south of the border (Mexico, Guatemala, Venezuela, Colombia, etc) feel that they, too, are "Americans"

However, when abroad, people just call us Americans.
