Do you have any superstitions, rituals, or habits on game day, either as a player, or as a fan?

AMDD, I also have some clothes that are forbidden on game day.

My #1 superstition: Never talk about stats 1-2 hours before a game

My #2 superstition: Whenever I get another glass of wine, my team scores (this one is as a fan, of course)

i had unlucky sabres socks. they lost three consecutive games with me wearing them, so i tossed them and went and bought all new pairs. I also insist on writing all over my poor car with glass chalk the day of a game. There's all this yellow and blue paint stuck in the seams of my trunk lol.

I get a cup of DD's coffee on the way to the rink. I usually don't even drink it all, but I have to have it.

Then I have a stick of gum so I don't breathe coffee breath all over my teammates. I always, always, always chew gum during the game. It keeps my teeth from grinding while I play since I don't wear a mouthguard, and now it's just habit. I'm not sure I'd call it a superstition, but I've walked all the way back to my truck to get the gum if I forgot it.

I also always set up the net for the goalie, unless we're somewhere the refs do it for you.

well for caps games its a long story. Ok so i went to a caps pre-season game vs flyers and i bought a new caps hat there. I wore it throug the game until the 3rd period cuase the caps went down 5-2. I thought if i took it off they'd score and sure enough when i took it off AFTER the faceoof the caps scored. So i began taking it off after every faceoff and keeping it off until stoppage. The caps kept scoring. Finally they tied it, then took the lead then got the empty netter and won 7-5 that was the best caps game in a long while for me so i take off the hat every facoff from now on. Hell when our metro train coming home from the game stopped i took the hat off to see if it would go and it did. When i play i just go with the stick that i had a good performance with in the game before

As a fan of hockey when I go out I tend to tie my left shoe before my right and try not to talk to anyone 10 minutes before the game. I also play basketball and follow these supersistions as well.

When I play I always get dressed the same way, they same order with the right side being first always. Don't really know why I just do. It feels weird if I change anything. I have tried and the whole game I felt like something was off.

I talked to the knob on the end of my goal stick during play stoppages. Before game start, I would bang the left post and right post of the goal net with my stick, and rub the crossbar for luck. If a player ever banged a shot off the crossbar or goal posts, I would thank the goal post or crossbar. . . .

I also dressed a certain way: left leg in cup, right leg in cup, left leg in pant, right leg in pant, left skate, right skate, left leg pad, right leg pad, etc. Basically with the exception of pants, glove/blocker and cage, everything was left to right, bottom to top. I'm full right, so my glove was on right hand and blocker on left hand, because it's a pain in the **** to adjust my catch glove with a blocker on my left hand.

Do not kill spiders the night before game 7

IIf at a NJ Devils game (at least when they were at the meadowlands) i'd go & visit Doc & Chico (the Commentaors) before the game & sometimes after as well (for game notes)

always get dressed the same way. always do my stretches in the same order to the left of the net. then i have a phrase that i whisper while in the butterfly position. then stand up, touch blocker and glove to the post, take two steps out, and bang stick on the ice. if i don't do it i don't feel right.

I never wear my Habs jersey on a game day, even if I do go to the game, because when I do they lose.

Also when I play with my friends (I'm usually in net)I always tape up my stick and write things on the parts I taped up. I also sing to myself while I play so it helps me relax.

I never shave during the playoffs.

Last year, during the MLB playoffs, I used to wear green shirts and sit in the same seat in my room when the Tigers played. It did well until they played in the World Series.
