Wow. I thought everyone was still on the Global Warming band wagon.

There is no overpopulation, and if there was it is self-correcting. You want people to stop breeding, well then stop paying them to breed. Eliminate welfare and make all entitlement programs privately run and privately financed. When we stop paying for people to have kids who otherwise could not afford them, they will stop having them.

Real sex education will also help. Stop with the story of the birds and the bees, and start talking to children about the costs of parenthood, and the costs of STDs. Sex may be fun, but just like Golf, it is very expensive, and until you can afford to buy a set of clubs, you should just watch it on TV.

Environmental policies to reduce population?
I don't know why you would use environmental policies at all.
And who says there is "overpopulation" at all? Last I heard, there is more food in the world that can be consumed.

But if you want environmental policies, let's say we could do silly things like reduce land for agricultural use, reduce water use for agriculture too, that would really increase the price of food and starve poor people to death. But really, who wants to starve the poor to death?

Perhaps putting birth control drugs in the water supply. Only those with the means to drink only purified water would be able to reproduce. Not sure that is an "environmental policy" but about the closest thing I can think of.

There have been successful programs in place for 50 years to stop population growth and prevent famine and other misery to mankind. The population is expected to peak in 2050 at 10 billion which is well below the carrying capacity of the earth. People who do not find this solution satisfactory should go live in a low population density region, refrain from having children, and leave the rest of us in peace.

i wasnt gonna answer this question til i saw triples answer....sterilize all criminals eh? I was a criminal at one time. I now have 4 kids and another on the way. I own my own business AND work another full-time job. I don't use drugs, barely drink and have done pretty well for myself. All of my kids are beautiful, the 2 that are in school are both on the honor roll. So what should I tell them?!?!? That theres people like you that think they never shoulda been born?!?!?!? Now to answer the question, what we should do is educate on safer sex practices better. We should allow safe sex to be taught in the school instead of merely teaching abstinence. That will do great wonders.

I think the only ways to deal with overpopulation is a global law (enforced) limiting a couple's offspring to two, and more wars and incurable diseases to reduce our growing numbers.

Well growing more food only makes the problem worse. Perhaps we could CREATE more malaria nesting areas, I know its a radical idea and will take awhile before its chanted by masses.
