Their requirements academically aren't as demanding as some schools, they are pretty much an open admission university.

If you have a high school diploma or equivalent then they will let you give it a shot. Don't let that make you think they're easy once you're there - you really have to display some potential for talent in order to stay.
You can submit a portfolio of your art and may be able to waive some foundation courses if you're very good at what you do.
Academy of Art University is not someplace you want to go and mess around - that'd be an expensive party.
