My first cycle I took 50 mg on days 5-9. I didn't work at all. No side effects either. I did get my period normally ( without meds) on CD32

SEcond Cycle I took 100mg on days 5-9 and ovulated on CD19 .. side effects.. hot flashes, horrible mood swings( crying , lauging, screaming) couldn't control it. only lasted about 7 days though.

2 days before ovulation had really really sore and constantly errect nipples . I took HPT on CD32 and was pregnant. I miscarried at 6 weeks pregnant. and I am going tomy doc thursday to get started back on clomid again. Its been almost 2 months since my miscarriage.

Good Luck with the clomid.

Wow, people don't have the best experiences on Clomid from what it sounds like! I actually took Clomid because I was anovulatory and have PCOS. After a year plus of trying naturally and 7 months of no periods, I finally went to my dr. and he put me on Clomid 50mg days 5-9. I conceived the first month I used it! Unfortunately, I started out carrying 3 babies (I had 3 sacs, 2 correct sized ones and 1 smaller one) and ended up losing 2 of the 3 babies by 7 weeks. I am now 12 weeks and pregnant with one very healthy (but a little small) baby! So I am a huge believer in Clomid, you just have to stay positive. Good luck and lots of baby dust to you! :o)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention side effects. They aren't the most pleasant. Hot flashes, moodiness, emotional, and pretty much like a bomb waiting to burst but I think it's a combination of the drugs and the waiting to find out if you are pregnant. Just hang in there, you have to go thru the bad to get the good sometimes!

My story, I will try to shorten it so as not to put you to sleep, lol.
I started clomid in Aug 2003 and fell pregnant straight away, 50mg days 5-9. But the I miscarried at 6 weeks for reason unknown. The Doctor let me go again as soon as I bled and I fell pregnant again, 50mg days 5-9, I got pregnant in Oct and by june 2004 I had a beautiful little girl. I remember not having may side effects except for raised bbt while on the drug.
I decided that I wanted another baby in 2005, went back to the Doc and he started me on clomid, but it took a few months to get the dose and days right, he put me on 50mg again but days 3-7 and nothing happened, 50mg next month days 3-9 still nothing. So he put me on 100mg days 3-7, and I got pregnant, yay! until I went for a scan at 8 weeks to see the heart beat and postion etc, there I was with my pants off having an internal scan with lots of people in the room and the Doc tells me that there is no heartbeat so no viable pregnancy, right around Christmas, OMG, thanks a bunch (not! so not happy). I felt do vunerable and lost. Instead of taking the D&C option I took medication to get rid of the non-baby. It was awful but you don't need a description of that.
I went back the the Doc in Jan after he had a vacation (lucky for some) and started again, 100mg clomid days 5-9, I did 2 cycles, and fell pregnant in march of 2006, I finally delivered a healthy baby boy in Dec 2006. I do remember a few side effects like hot flushes, mood swings, bbt temps risen while taking the drug, a headache until a few days past taking clomid, no cm until after, pelvic discomfort, and an aching ovary well one that I ovulated from.
Now for some strange reason I feel the call again, will I have another miscarriage, who knows, but I want another baby so will go again on the clomid......

To be continued............Lol.

Clomid dosing information

Usual Adult Dose for Ovulation Induction:
50 mg orally once a day for 5 days. Therapy should be initiated on or near the 5th day of the menstrual cycle, but may be started at any time in patients without recent uterine bleeding.

If ovulation occurs and pregnancy is not achieved, up to 2 additional courses of Clomid 50 mg orally once a day for 5 days may be administered. Each subsequent course may be started as early as 30 days after the previous course and after pregnancy has been excluded.

Most patients ovulate following the first course of therapy. However, if the patient fails to ovulate, a second course of 100 mg/day for 5 days may be given as early as 30 days following the initial course. A third course of 100 mg/day for 5 days may be given after 30 days, if necessary.

Treatments beyond three cycles of Clomid, dosages greater than 100 mg once a day, and/or course durations beyond 5 days are not recommended by the manufacturer. However, successful pregnancies and term deliveries have been reported in women receiving up to 200 mg/day for 5 days, or extended 10-day course of therapy, or consecutive cycles of treatment beyond the 3 recommended by the manufacturer.
Usual Adult Dose for Lactation Suppression:
50 to 100 mg orally once a day for 5 days. Generally, one course of therapy is sufficient.
Usual Adult Dose for Oligospermia:
25 to 100 mg orally once a day. Therapy is generally given over a period of several months.

My husband and I used Chlomid along with an IUI and it worked on our 3rd cycle! The doc warned us that it usually takes a few tries but we were still devestated when the first 2 didn't work, but now we are 13 weeks pregnant with our first child and we couldn't be more excited! Good Luck, I hope it works quicker for you because I know how tough it is!

instead of clomid, my ob gave me clostil, they have the same generic name, clomifene citrate. i'm on my third cycle now.

the first two cycles, i took 2 tablets every night for 5 days. i produced an egg each month but unfortunately, they didn't fertilize.

this time, i took 2 tablets at night and 1 in the morning. i produced two eggs on my left ovary, i have yet to know if it works this time. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.
