Abolish it, no of direction not, even with the hostility shown to the needy, no one somewhat desires to make certain human beings dying interior the streets or orphans begging on roadways. yet a stable deal of incorrect information exists as to what has occurred to welfare twelve years in the past, while variations have been made so as that merely being lazy and shiftless isn't grounds for welfare anymore. And the thirty 12 months previous tale of the foodstuff Stamp recipient who will pay for steaks beer and cigarettes whilst the confusing working guy or woman buys cheese and crackers has been around merely approximately as long as I surely have. the fact is that when workfare occurred they theory they have been going to get the slacker off, and somewhat they got here across that maximum individuals on welfare stayed on for merely a 12 months. And that the main important shoppers of welfare have been babies and infants. many of the previous canards have been disproved. capacity exams and tighter standards left some interior the airborne dirt and dirt, psychological and actual ailment and incapacity enables you to't get care in case you have a activity, so some can't artwork by way of fact in the event that they did they could not get lifesaving insurance. yet another rationalization for typical well being care. Welfare isn't an relaxing experience, its a soul grinding journey that maximum individuals discover insufferable.

We would see an entrepeneurial explosion like this country has never seen. This country was built on entrepeneurs and over time, most people just went to work for one. We don't have the jobs to support all of the out of work people in the country, but if you were to take away their free meal ticket, you would see the creativity and ingenuity that built this country up from a stolen plot of indian land into a world super power.

The masses of unemployed, elderly, mentally ill, handicapped, unskilled, poorly educated, criminals and sex offenders, homeless families, on the streets will be extremely offensive to look at an the way to the office. There is no kindness in this self absorbed, gluttonous, poor excuse for a Society. The havenots will either perish or start there own revolution. That's what usually happens in other third world countries.

If there was a concomitant reduction in confiscatory taxes, then donations to charities would likely significantly increase. I know I would increase donations, if my Democrat-tick wife would allow it. Like a good Democrat-tick, my wife believes that others should give more, not us.
But, I suspect that the states would just take over and increase their own taxes, with the federal taxes not shrinking down as much, resulting in increased taxes overall.

The religious right (neocons) no. Their conduct maes it clear that the do not follow Christ's teachings. Talk--yes. Do--no.
But they are a small (if obnoxiously noisy) part of the population. The majrity of people would do what they could to take up the slack.
A moot point, though. Again--the neocons are not "America"--they are, in fact, entirely out of touch with the American people and American values. No one is going to abolish social programs. In fact, they will be revitalized to restore their integrity, which has been badly damaged by 12 years of neoconservative corruption and greed.

I think the only reason the US has social welfare programs is due to the kindness of Christians in the US.
As the secularization of the country together with the entitlement mentality, continues to grow, we see tax-payers unwilling to continue to bear the burden.
This is the reason we see a split in the Republican party currently, and also the reason Christian evangelicals are finding themselves outside of party walls.

They shouldn't be abolished, but fraud and misuse of such programs should be carefully monitored. I have no problem at all helping the poor, but i do have a problem with those who are abusing the system.

Oh, there would be starving children and old people. Just, apparently, like Jesus wanted. Or, the "compassionate conservatives" could start a good child labor program, like something from a Charles Dickens novel.
I mean...those toddlers are so lazy! Why don't they get jobs!?

People may help out of the kindness of their hearts at first, but people's kindness is limited.

I think it would wake this country up to what is important and what we should have been doing all along instead of relying on the government for everything. They didn't have social welfare programs in the Bible for just this reason, families were families and stayed close just for this reason.
