That's a tall task. What do you see when someone tells you that you are looking at the color blue?
That is what it looks like to you. Everyone has their own perception of the universe. You are not alone in wanting to know what others see. It is human. We are only capable of seeing through one set of eyes. How beautiful would it be to see through the artists eyes as he or she paints a masterpiece? But then, maybe it might take away from the work in the end. Maybe it would just be beautiful to see the vision that inspired the work. I don't know.
As for what blue really looks like, I can't help you. But I'll try to paint a picture...without colors. Here, an original poem, brand new for you. I'm sure it will explain nothing. I'm just a writer (and a poor one). Maybe you'll see the blue in my eyes as I write this now. I'm feeling rather blue at the moment.
The cool spring water
Fom the mountain streams
Calls me from my slumber
Calls me from my dreams
The cloudless crystal sky
A brilliant morning sun
Might dare to ask me why
The evening dares to run
But I answer not
That cloudless sky
Who seems so caught
In its questions why
I yawn again and turn around
I return once more to the underground

It's really hard to describe a color. Blue is traditionally considered a cold color. It's associated with calm, peace, quiet and space. I would say is soft and mild. It's often used in schools and hospitals because of its calming effect.
Of course there are many shades of blue and that's when the traditional description has to change a little. From baby blue to navy blue there is a huge range of different shades with different emotional effects.

That is an excellent question, and one that really can't be answered. If it's a light shade of blue, then it's a 'restful' color, one that makes a person think of warm summer days spent on the beach. But it can also have a darker shade, reminding one of the softness (or coldness) of the night. It's a very flexible color.

Hmmm, tough question, describing blue to someone who can't see it. Are you completely color blind, or just partially? If you can see red & green, the best I can describe it is the color that results when you mix those two.

Blue is like cool water running through your finger tips or the smoothness of satin. It can also be the tear that comes from ones eyes and rolls down their cheek. It is in the softness of a kiss or the warmth of a hug. It is a calm, tranquil color and quiet and still. It is like the air that we breathe that we cannot see or hear.

It is what calm and tranquility looks like - the brushing of waves over sand and boulders, the sky in the morning surrouding one big ball of light. True beauty.

Its cool but not cold. It smells fresh like the air after the rain. It slips softly between your fingers.
