i don't think so.... since men could erase, they needed more pencils.... didn't they?

Actually, the eraser was invented first.

So, the guy who invented the eraser was really happy when somebody finally invented something that could be erased.

Of course not. He welcomed the idea. The more writing erased the more writing needed and, ultimately, more pencils required.
