I would venture to say that that is very good timing. Sperm can live in fertile cervical mucus for up to 5 days. If you have a regular cycle and your ovulation date falls anywhere from day 7 to day 16 or 17, your timing was excellent.

Remember, though, that every cycle brings just a 20-25% chance of pregnancy even if everything is in tip top working order.

Pretty good chance. Eight days after plus five days of trying puts us at 13 days into cycle. The sperm can live I think up to 72 hours (or three days), that means day 15. If you are on a 28 day cycle then yes you have a wonderful chance of being pregnant since you would have ovulated on about day 14, egg lives for about 24 hours so that means there was time in there for you to have gotten pregnant. Pretty darned good chance. And you can get pregnant at any time of month...not just at your most fertile period.

at this period your chances of getting pregnant is more as your fertility is at its peak

Probably yes.Sperm can survive up to 3 days once they leave a man body. My advice is, swallow that birth control pill.Now!
