There will always be those fringe types who are fans of the "equipe du jour". These people will change teams every time a new lead dog takes over the pack. And it's ugly. They will be soo overly vocal about their team even when it's plainly apparent they don't know diddly about the sport in question. Loyal fans hate these types because they drive up ticket prices when it appear the loyal fans will finally be rewarded for their years of devotion and patience. Your only consolation is to spill your beer (pop in your case) all over their $250 jersey when they bump into you in the crowd trying to jump off the bandwagon.

I have noticed a crap load of Habs sweaters here in Hamilton. I think it has more to do with Cary Price playing so awesome helping the 'Bulldogs' to win the Calder cup. Now he is playing for 'le habs'. But I totally see what you are saying about Sens wear also. The majority of the same people wearing the SENS stuff have a closet full of Leafs stuff ready to brought out once the bandwagon momentum swings back to the Leafs way. I love my Hamilton Bulldogs but I can't wear any sweaters with that decrepit Habs logo on the shoulder.

The Sens are "Canada's team" right now, while the Leafs and Flames are struggling to find themselves. They are our best hope of bringing the cup up north, so people in Canada support them. The Flames and Oilers were treated as kings (not LA style) too when they made it too the final. Also, Ottawa has been consistently good for some years now.

i guess it depends where you live. i live in toronto and when the sens were on the stanley cup run. i think that there werent many people wearing sens merchandise. but at that time i also went to ottawa. actually i had went on the day they won against buffalo in game 5 and were the eastern conference champions! downtown was crazy!!! also the next day sports stores were FILLED with sens stuff!! it doesnt drive me crazy because im a sens fan. but it just really depends on where you live.. i see people wearing leafs stuff all the time here. but i do think that many people are band wagons and not true to their teams.. thats what really pisses me off!

It might annoy you, but it's tough to have people take you too seriously when you're a Leafs fan. I'm a Montreal fan, but right now Ottawa is the team carrying the torch for Canadian teams.
Once the Senators' current run of good fortune ends, I'm sure the bandwagon will lose many riders.

Having grown up in Calgary when the only teams in Canada were Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver; I remember that everyone in my school was a Montreal fan, even my brother.
My mom was a huge Maple Leafs fan started to cheer them on in the 30-40 and so was I she adored
Dave Keon, Lanny McDonald, and Darryl Sittler, and I just got an amazing amount of abuse heaped on me by the other kids in school.
So winners always attract questionable fan base.

I just got back from center city Philadelphia and I stuck out like a sore thumb wearing my Eagles #20. There were plenty of Flyers bandwagoneers, a few Phillies dreamers, and one Sixers holdover from the 80's.
It's hard to find devoted supporters of teams these days. But don't switch - you'll never live it down. And your conscience will know it too.

Winning brings "fans". I will always remember the number of trailer park kids with Dallas Cowboys apparel during jr high school in the mid 90's. Sad thing is I grew up in Central NY.

How do you know what kind of boxers people are wearing?
That is what happens when a team does well. These people aren't part of the Leafs "loyal fans" jumping ship are they?
I still like the Leafs better even though they.....well, they don't do so well.

It's not a lot of a people or anything, but a friend of mine has noticed a few Anaheim Ducks jerseys since last season. (Haha, I never run into these people... but maybe that's a good thing.)
...By the way, like 2eighty8, I was wondering what you were doing asking questions during school hours. LOL.
