Chlomid is a fertility drug which helps in inducing ovulation. Also Metformin helps you to regularise the cycles.

Metformin at least 1500 mg per day.. thats actuslly a drug used for diabetics but when you have PCOS most of us are insulin resistant so that makes our cycles wacky or not have any at all.. someitme this helps alone but most doctors prescibe it along with Clomid.. generally starting off at 50mg taken on cycle days 3-7 or 5-9
Good Luck

Hey- you'll want to get on Metformin right away. I'm on 500 mg three times a day. You just have to make sure you don't eat much carbs when you initially start taking this medicine. You'll get an upset stomach if you do! You'll start by just taking one a day, when you're ready go to two a day, and then three a day. I wouldn't recommend taking them all right away...your stomach will get SO upset. I started taking them on a Tuesday and by Friday I was able to take all three.
I had a miscarriage before I went on Metformin. Those with PCOS unfortunately have a higher risk of miscarriage. Metformin is known to greatly reduce this risk.
I got pregnant RIGHT away after going on Metformin. I'm currently seven weeks pregnant and everything is looking great! I'm still taking Metformin as well until I pass 12 weeks.
I wouldn't recommend going straight on Clomid. Because of the higher risk of miscarriage there's such a high risk of miscarriage with just clomid alone since your hormones won't be able to sustain a pregnancy. My doctor was going to have me try Metformin alone for three months. If I wasn't pregnant by three months he was going to give me clomid to add to the mix.
With Metformin there's a GREAT chance you'll get pregnant RIGHT away just like I did! If not add clomid in just two months!
Hope this helps and good luck!!=)

I have pcos, did clomid for 4 cycle didn't work, most ladies with pcos conceive on clomid because it induces ovulation, but I am taking metformin now, so far this is my 2nd month and I am having reguler 29 day cyles, metformin helps your hormones get back normal so that you can start ovulating on your own.

Metiform and clomid. Also # The first step in managing PCOS is to get regular exercise and eat a heart-healthy diet. This can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol and reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease.
# Most women with PCOS can benefit from losing weight. Even losing 10 lb may help get your hormones in balance and regulate your menstrual cycle.

I was diagnosed with PCOS, but I don't think I really have it. I missed my periods and the hormonal work up they did said I had it. I did conceive four times (one tubal pregnancy and three other healthy homebirth babies) after being diagnosed w/out any of the drugs mentioned here before my answer. I do have Hashimotos and take synthroid however. I would suggest reading Susan Weed's books, they helped me a ton and I know have helped thousands of other women. Also www.midwiferytoday.com has an abundance of information helpful for you as well. Good luck!
