That is college football, a national phenomenon. I have
tried to enjoy this NFL season like 2 years ago. But there
isn't that much excitement so far. Why ? Dallas Cowboys
are making a run, Carolina Panthers are struggling.
NFC East not lookin to good ? Perhaps it will get better...
But that d*mn college football, always delivers. Each
and every Saturday. Thursday nights are hot, too.
And as unpredictable, and explosive as it has been, for
many years, who can stop this madness ? A lot more
variety, than NFL. So which is the better one ?
NFL or College Football ? Best league wins.

College Football, is much more
captivating, than the early season
hum drum of the NFL. And the
Bowl Games are incredible !
Forget the playoff system.
Chaos is needed.... And you never
know with these guys, and their
legacy. I mean look at how the
fans act in Alabama, and Louisiana.
Are you kidding me ? Go SEC.

College football is more fun to follow because there are so many more teams: Meaning more games to watch!
Pro ball is pretty predictable: AFC over NFC, Brady, Manning, Favre, etc. blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong, I love pro football too, but just ask yourself: Are Saturdays more fun than Sundays? Of course. Saturday rules, college football from 11 am to past midnight.

You'll probably see two answers:
NFL- Best athletes in the world, cream of the crop, only best college go to NFL.
COLLEGE- Pageantry, they play not for money but for love, upsets, etc.
Personally I like college due to the styles and matchup. NFL is pretty much all the same, an defense is basically a 3-4 or a 4-3 out of base and about 40% nickel or dime. Those are the variations; you take conservative Tampa 2 defensee or Jim Jonhsons blitzes and there isnt a high level of variation. Nor on the O; where a Patriot 5-wide team will pass maybe on average 12-15 more ties than a conservative dolphin attack.
Compare that with college; you can have the spread airraid offenses, the pro styles, spread option, traditional option, more run favored, etc. And on D you have all the NFL looks not to mention 3-3-5 and temas that are pure nickel. Furthermore the NFL game is much like the NBA where it is set up to allow individual stars to succeed (ie throw a lob up to the receiver you have favorable odds that he'll catch it or get a PI, even though he hit the db just as much). I think if you watch the game for matchups, style, etc you have to go with college....I just don't thik most people do.

It just seem to me that most people who like college football tend to have more of a connection with whatever college. Maybe they live there, or went to school there. And yes, its great to watch games between Florida and LSU, or USC v UCLA. those are great. The excitement in those huge stadiums of 100 grr +. You got the crowd into it and everything, the huge bands. But, thats between the good teams. Lets not forget that you get scores of 77-13 in some games. And lets not also forget that you get the best football players at the next level. I'd say the NFL is the better league, as would anyone say. But as for excitement and pandomia. You have to go with College. It's the same in bball. Sure, college bball is great in March, but what about from Nov - Feb. To me, professionals are always better than college kids. And if I had to pay money, my hard earned money, to follow either college or pro football, I'm choosing Pro. At least there is a champion at the end of the season.

College football is filled with guys trying to make it to the over-priced & under-acheiving NFL. There are 100's of young men in a battle for the security of their futures and their families. ALOT of these college players are there representing the hope & dreams of an inner city family to be their ticket out of poverty. It is the most exciting and defining time in their lives. They give it their all every Saturday to be noticed by talent scouts from the Pro's, so that they too can one day take it easy, catch a few balls, gain a few yards, score a few points and earn a few million. NFL is OK, better than tennis or bowling to watch for sure, but NOTHING like the intensity and passion of NCAA football.

I like College Basketball a lot more than Professional Basketball, but I like Professional Football a lot more than College Football.
I like the NFL more than college because:
1) College Football does not have a playoff to determine the Champion. If a team loses a game or 2 the season is over.
2) The same college teams tend to be in the top 10, although this year there are some surprises.
3) I'm a big UNC fan and their football team always sucks.

Although I watch both and both are exciting to watch, I'll take the NFL over College for one main reason: The "Bullsh*t Championship Series". If the NCAA goes to a playoff, then I'll take College football

College all the way. Rivalry is huge aspect in the NCAA, college is played by heart, and determination, pro is driven and played by money and greed. in college the fans are cooler too, college has a certain thrill of watching, you never know what is going to happen. team spirit, a marching band, the student section going wild, pros just can't add up, of course i live in phoenix so the cardinals games aren't as exciting, but a fall saturday evening in sundevil stadium watching ASU kill thier opponents at home is priceless. college is by far the best

I prefer pro football for the following reasons:
1) the talent is more evenly spread, and more consistent: on the best college team, maybe 10 players are pro-caliber
2) the season is not "over" after one or two losses the way it is for a national title contender in college.
3) I am bothered by how much money is spent on college athletics: at my alma mater, Colorado State, the dorms are molding from the inside out, they're cutting research budgets, staff positions, and intramural and less popular athletics for lack of dollars, but they just spent $ 30 million adding a new jumbotron and new bleachers to the stadium, and putting astroturf on the practice field -- at many academic institutions, academics takes a backseat to athletics.
4) Because so much money is spent on college football, and because there is so much at stake for the booster/gambling communities, I don't trust any high-profile college athlete's academic record -- that's not to say they're all cheating, but they're all given ample opportunity to cheat (I knew a player on CSU's football team who said they have lists of professors in every department who are sympathetic to the program).
That's not to say I don't see problems with the pros: overpaid players (but it's not money that would otherwise go for benificial programs) wife-beating, fathering children and not acting as fathers, drug use, etc.
In the end, I prefer it because it's higher quality football, and it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, where college football is paid and perked athletes passing themselves off as students.
