For the last 5,000,000 years we have been in an Ice Age Era, moving from glacial (approx. 80,000 yrs) to interglacial (20,000 yrs.) periods. This known as the Milanovitch Cycle. Land in the North is rebounding back up from having been depressed by enormous glaciers of the previous glacial event.
Remember, to every action their is an equal and opposite reaction-- that would mean that the land at the equator would have bulged as a reaction... and so it too would now be resettling. It can be surmised that in its final stage, the rebound would escalate-- that would mean earthquakes (especially under the sea) and tsunami's at a faster rate and with greater severity. With all that activity under the sea (friction), you would have warming which of course, would then move to the atmosphere-- torrential rains, floods and hurricanes. Hmmm. The next phase would be tonnes of snow!
Mankind has reduced forests, and glacial events do again as much. Forests provide the air we breath!!

I am an optimist... and a realist, so let me add this: in the year 2000, I was in a car accident where the double reiforced steel doors of my VW and side air bags saved my life.
So, if there are precautions that we can take to prevent a 'worse case' scenario in a vehicle accident, then the same can be said of being able to sidestep the various other 'bigger' Nemesis' that are bound to threaten our world somewhere down the line.
I personally think that technology is a wondrous thing, and that it will one day save us... even though it 'appears' as though it is the big culprit around global warming (which, as I have explained above... is not the case... that is not to say that we should not deal with this issue).
So, my logical mind simply asks-- what would give us that 'cushion of safety'? I have ideas on this, but I am only one person, and I believe very much in the power around the use of many minds-- brain storming... and I guess that is why I am putting this out there.

Here is my idea... actually it is based on NASA research... one that was proven successful, and one that we can build on.
We build 'terranium' style homes/large centers. That's right-- we fully encapsulate ourselves in a clear bubble of sorts. Within this 'mini world' we plant trees/shrubs and whatever is needed that will provide air and food (we keep the balance). To do this, we may need to rely on genetic manipulation of plants to give us all that we need in a small space. This type of new home would help prevent a slew of travesties that could plague us-- in the event of a muliple astroid hit for one (didn't that wipe out the dinasaur); and then their is glacial events-- great sheets of Ice and Drought everywhere else-- this type of home would be useful here as well (especially this one coming up which would leave us that much more in need of oxygen thanks to our great involvement in the last few thousand years-- involvment that changes everything.
This could feasibly be done

i understand what you are saying. even though the forrests provide the air we breath, we also need the things in the forrest. we need the paper from the trees and other things that are useful to our evolved life without some of thaat stuff we would live like cave people.

Oh, do you want a glimpse into the future? Forget the weather, that is the LEAST of our problems. Here's what our future will REALLY be and it really will SUCK. Futue man is....a species enslaved by their governments and corporate Gods, living in an overpopulated blasted planet once teeming with natural life, now on this desert world which reaches over 150 degrees F by day and at night falls to negative -60 F (and that's in the inhabitable areas), befouled by man's toxins, and the once beautiful Gaea turned into a toxic waste dump and landfill, with only vermin like rats and cockroaches survive along with slave-humanity as it slowly evolves into mindless, mechanical animals resembling more and more the Borg on Star Trek, mindless slaves who have lost their wills, their minds, even their gender, safe, compliant, asexual, genderless worker "bees" slaving away for the benefit of their hive, and this my friend is the GOOD FUTURE, the other one which is at least equally as likely is a dead blasted world devoid of a rather stupid species known as Homo sapiens, that amazing species that wields the power of the atom, while still worshipping Ghosts and Demon Gods and as a result of their superstitious ethics built atop their deadly WMDs and Atomic, Biological and Chemical weapons (the last man- made plague took out a third of humanity....) eventually destroyed themselves in an orgasmic paroxysm of blood and violence and the war didn't stop until every living human being was gone and only the Cucaracha remained! No other species in the Universe was so intelligent as to have cracked the secret of the atom while still so stupid bow to invisible Ghosts and worship the fictitious and fantastic monsters created by their power-maddened clergymen and theologians whose only true Father and Savior was the Almighty Dollar anyway.....

And in the distant future an alien species discovers in the remote parts of a remote galaxy a blasted world, but still evidence of a once great civilization now gone. Who were these people? What caused them to self-destruct? What made them surrender their freedoms so easily and give their wills away for chains of gold and the lies of madmen?

One wise elder among the alien research team suggested that FEAR is the most destructive power in the Universe and it was probably FEAR that led to the destruction of this ancient civilization....but then he was just speculating....

While idiots say "Follow me and I'll lead you to Paradise" and even bigger idiots follow them, every Utopian vision has led to the creation of Hell on Earth, every perfect society, a perfect prison, every Unitarian Movement, a move towards Fascism. It is so difficult to understand that the quest for the perfect society has led to war, bloodshed and destruction and violence? That all Utopias are the delusions of mad-men, and the perfect society a pipe-dream of minds blasted by chemicals.

Don't you realize that you're asking this question on Yahoo! Answers? Most people on here won't read all of what you wrote, much less comprehend it.

To answer your question, I don't believe that anybody knows what is in store for us. Scientifically, one could try to make conjectures about where we are going, but ultimately, nobody knows for sure.

Considering experts can't predict the weather for next week with much accuracy, I don't think you will get a reliable answer here.
