I don't think it is a theory. The idea behind it is that chlorine will prevent organisms from building up in the water. Stuff like bacteria or algea cannot live in the water if it has a certain chlorine level. That is a fact. Adding enough chlorine to the water will keep this stuff from growing and the water will look better and be safer to swim in.

It kills microorganisms. This way it prevents people who swim in the pool water from getting infected with any diseases. As for drinking water: You just shouldn't drink chlorine water. It's not very healthy, you know.

Well,I guess maybe there's a theory.Probably the chlorine ion reacts the water molecule.Some reation would take place that would clean the water blah..blah.. blah...not sure.Otherwise it helps to keep teh pool clean.

kills germs, little kids pee in the pool, people spit, i would really rather not swim in that. So they add chlorine to sanitize the water.
