"truth is how you percieve the world, very little else matters unless you are willing to change your perceptions, which happens only every so often when you switch views."

is this a correct statement? can you argue against it?

Truth is fact! You cannot switch views on it! Truth is agreement with reality and the eternal principle of right.
Finding out the truth is finding there is no other answer and no other view to it. If your view changed about your truth then it was not the truth to begin with.

To be honest, I'm having trouble following it and am not sure if it's supposed to have a real meaning or is simply an ironic statement. Maybe it's too early in the morning

All I can tell you is that the truth is the truth regardless of how many people "perceive" it.

That said, if people don't "get it" about the truth, it really doesn't matter since the Truth is that there is no meaning or purpose to anything including ANY human endeavor. So you COULD say the truth is whatever u perceive in the sense of "the truth that matters to you", but it's not real truth.

It's close enough. Truth is a collective construct where the majority of individuals in a group or culture all agree to accept an idea as 'truth'. Accepting or rejecting is an individual paradigm and only changes the thinking of the individual.
It can not really help a person live as life happens through spontaneous discovery not set values.

The truth is an absolute and can not be refuted. It also can be accepted or not by anyone through their own viewpoint. Having said that perhaps we remember that how the truth is stated, viewed, or interacted with depends on individual conception of that truth. To be or not to be the truth, that is the answer.

I would argue against by saying that a mad man sees the world in a distorted way and cannot change his perceptions.

...if it is only when you perceive it-you are selfish because of ur unwillingness to see the truth...so...the truth is what it is...at that particular moment...I guess if you divide it into three parts...the question is...who is the one that sees no and speaks no and hears no evil vs. the one who does....and then what's the old added wording..."and then there is the truth."
...so-it's always there...jus depends what the argument is...and who is the winner...so...ur mostly correct...but in order to switch ur view you would hav had to go against the truth in order for it to be found...so,finding it is a good pursuit...Yes?hhmmmmm.=)

Everyone, deep inside, knows the truth, but not everyone is willing to go there(unless it is convinient). People prefer to look out...the Cosmos, the Deep Oceans, even inside Volcanos....BUT when they close their eyes and see the vast darkness within them, they usually get scared, or fall asleep, some are luckier; they have nightmares!0!

Good luck!

Many of us cling to our beliefs like a bereaved person clinging to a corpse. Outside of one another, our constructs and beliefs are all we've got. People die or leave us, but our own Truth-our fantasy island- seems to transcend the known world. "Hope springs eternal in the human breast." I doubt that many of us could carry on without our "truthful" but imaginary island retreats. I could not.

i like the statement, because a lot of personal unhappiness is due to one's thinking they can change people, places or things.the only thing one can truly change is themselves and that begins by changing their perception of things.Only then do you "switch views",when you start LIVING your change,in other words change your behavior.then you can become a living example of your perceptions.then it is possible to become an influence.to those close to you, then to all those around you,then.....the world! good question.
