Did Canada ever had a team in an NFL before? There are talks that Bills could be going there down the road, I know MLB, NHL, MLS and NBA had teams in Canada, is NFL just an American thing or can a Canadian city have a team that competes in NFL?

The Toronto/Hamilton area (where I live now) make up 85% of Bills fans as it is. If they decided to come up here that would kill the Argo's and the Ticats (cfl). There is more than enough population and a hell of a lot more money on this side of the border. There really is that much of a difference between Buffalo and the other side of the border.I have lived on both sides. Buffalo(the city) has fallen on TERRIBLE times financially and population wise. So when that lease runs out in 2012 in orchard park, look for the Toronto Bills.

Canada has never had an NFL team before, and I'm not expecting that we'll get one anytime soon.
I believe that Toronto is the only city in Canada that could - and would - support a team, but there are a couple of factors that make me doubtful it will happen. First is the fact that they're very close geographically to the Bills, and I don't think Buffalo would want to lose the Canadian fans they already have. I'm not sure how Canadians attend their games, but I have several friends in that area of Ontario with Bills' season tickets.
The second reason why I'm unsure about Toronto getting a team is that I don't see the economic benefit for the NFL. They'd have to negotiate a different TV package here if a Canadian team was included, and I think they'd be better served going to another American city.
Don't get me wrong - I'd love to have a team here! But, I'm just not hopeful that it will happen any time soon.

Hey rebshel unless they are going to Quebec they don't need to speak French. Don't be ignorant, most of Canada is considered Bi-lingual. Anyway IF a team goes to Toronto it would be the Bills. They appearently have a lot of support from Toronto and Ralph Wilson doesn't plan to pass the team down to his family. That doesn't mean he WON'T. It means by what is in place right now the Bills would be up for sale if the man died. I never considered the TV deal, and really that might stop them from going to Canada. The NFL seems to want to go more international and more willing to expand in the thought of they would let an owner put them in Toronto. Yet the logistics could very well prevent it.
Oh and remember Canada gave the U.S. the NHL for the most part. Too bad the U.S. decided to ruin it. Long story short is it was fine in the Northern area and the niche markets. They brought in too many teams and spread it to areas that weren't interested, and I'm a hockey fan and from the U.S.

Canada never had a NFL team but they do want one. Right now they have the CFL like everyone knows but the Bills are thinking about playing a few games next season in Toronto. Which is kind of cool because the Bills do have a big fan base up there.
I'm sure Canada will have a team but its going to be a long wait.

Wow, are some Americans ever ignorant...what exactly does sports have to do with health care? If you are actually serious, I feel very sorry for you and your lack of intelligence. Anyways, to answer your question, Canada has the CFL, which is our own professional football league. The CFL plays with different rules -- fewer downs, longer field, etc. There used to be Americans teams in the CFL, but the league has now gone Canadian only, and each team must have a certain percentage of Canadian born players.
