I know I will be in the minority to in this, but whenever I see somebody come into my bar or out in public wearing a jersey, no matter what the team, I think they look like an idiot.

Its one thing to wear one to the game or if you are a kid, but does anyone else think jerseys are for the ice and look dumb on adults in plain clothes?
I have about 30 from playing but I wouldn't wear em anywhere but the ice and last I checked they do make plenty of sweatshirts and t-shirts to show your loyalty.
I kind of compare it to the guy who wears the t-shirt of the band that they are going to see........don't be that guy. lol

Just my 2 cents. Opinions?

Such anger. lol. I was just curious. sheesh.
Keep wearing them, I am always up for a laugh.
I guess when you REALLY play the game, you don't need to try and show everyone that you love hockey. How many times have you seen a pro player out and about in a jersey?

This guy told me I was way out of line and said that nothing is going to make him stop rocking his orange Lindros Flyers jersey, so I apologize.

Chris- I dont think there is a thing wrong with wearing a jersey as a kid, I too wore mine throughout school.
Anyway, sorry to give the wrong idea, I dont own a bar. I work as a doorman at a friends pub and as security for concerts at another club.

Zamdriver, you are the best!!!! I hate to be a butt kisser, but sometimes you make me laugh so hard. That picture is all business in the front, party in the back.
I agree, jerseys look stupid sometimes. Wearing a jersey, in public, I suppose is making a statement, but it does not serve a purpose. It's like a nun wearing a t-back. Aren't jersey's for hockey players when they are on the ice. Not just some guy going to grab a beer on Friday night.

Perhaps it's where you live that influences your opinion:

Mwahaha! (Sorry, Awesome Bill! I know you're a diamond in the rough!)

I have yet to see anyone look good in the new RBK Edge jerseys. Good thing I'm not holding my breath. I'd probably pass out before I do see anyone who can pull those off... anywhere!

I agree that some people can wear jerseys casually in public and not look foolish. I am sorry that apparently you are not one of them, Zam. :P

I prefer t-shirts and hoodies if it's not game day though. (Yeah, I put my Pens stuff on and wear it all day when there's a game.) The most important thing is your lid though. And you can wear hats anywhere.

Now, in Pittsburgh, it's basically legal to wear your Steelers jersey anywhere. A lot of professional businesses, schools, and hospitals have days when even their employees wear Steelers jerseys.

If I had a Sabres jersey, I'd wear it every game day! I wouldn't wear it to my teaching practicum or anything, but with the cost of NHL jerseys, I wouldn't be letting it sit in my closet to rot until the 2 or 3 games I get to a year. Maybe it's just me as a woman, but I always feel a little sexy wearing a jersey (that fits right) too. It's like a little sign that says "that's right, This woman looks good and this woman loves hockey; can you handle that?" That's just my own feelings on the matter, though.

Great question Zam. I have a few jerseys and they all stay in my closet. Now that you mention it, I don't think I have ever wore them.
Take a look around the rinks and the people garbed out in jerseys and you have your answer. More often than not, it looks like a retarded convention.
I have some sports (actually lots) stuff that I wear but it is all T-Shirts. Except my Phillies warm up jacket that I wear to ball when it is cool.
You would never catch me wearing a jersey. Although Halloween is around the corner so never say never.

I've recently begun collecting jerseys (my collection includes a new Ryan Miller jersey, a personalized old Sabres jersey-old as in red/black/white, a blank Rochester Americans jersey, and a blank Amarillo Gorillas jersey. I'm hoping to add a vintage LaFontaine jersey this Christmas.) and I wear them around all the time (usually on game nights). I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing them, especially during hockey season or on game nights, even if you aren't going to the game. It's all just a way of showing support for your team. I have plenty of Sabres t-shirts and hoodies and the like too, but the jerseys are just another article of clothing I throw in to the mix. I have a gotten a few strange looks before, but I think it's more because people aren't necessarily used to seeing a girl in a hockey jersey, but hey, I love my team too!

What I do think looks silly, and I've actually seen this done, is when people wear a jersey with like black dress pants. Sorry, but jerseys look best with just a pair of blue jeans in my opinion.

Not as foolish as people who wear hockey helmets in public.

I haven't worn a jersey as a shirt since I was in highschool (which was so long ago that the computer classes were for programming Fortran).

LOL, I'm older than dirt but a heck of a lot cleaner.

Actually locally I can't find any shirts for my Pens. Maybe if I live in the 'burgh I could but not around here. Kinda pisses me off though cause yeah I'm not going to be the guy wearing that Jersey(besides ever see the price lol). Seriously though I can find the jerseys but not the shirts. So I just don't have anything except my hat.

Well, Zam, I guess you can start calling me "idiot" then. lol

I have a Team Canada jersey (the one with the maple leaf, not the Hockey Canada logo) that I wear for the weather. I've also been known to wear it for entire tournaments like the World Juniors and World Championships, as well as the entire length of the Winter Olympics (I DON'T wear it during the Summer Olympics though...). As someone said before me, it just shows spirit, and in my case, national pride.

I also wear it because I like wearing baggy clothes. Call me "fashionably impaired," but I prefer baggy over whatever the mainstream is wearing because it's more comfortable. And who cares what people think? I'm just out to hang out and have some fun, what's the point of looking "current" just for that?

Just an FYI, I guess, I'm also a profiler because of my profession and I've found that people who wear jerseys are some of the most relaxed people I've ever dealt with. Fully co-operative, no fuss, they know they've done wrong and they're prepared to face the consequences.

I'm pretty sure no hockey player (or pro athlete for that matter) would wear their own jersey out. Speaking of which, I saw on the news of this one guy who has an uncanny resemblance to Mats Sundin. The guy would be decked out in full Leafs gear, including a #13 Sundin Leafs jersey, and go to restaurants like Gretzky's just to get attention and sign autographs (Sundin's...not the impersonator's name). Here's the kicker: people actually believe he's the real Mats Sundin. Based on this, who's dumber: Leafs fans or Sabres fans? I'm going with Leafs fans. lol

I wear my hockey jersey 1) when I play 2) at the games 3) At the hockey rink to keep a bit warmer. The only times I have worn a Jersey in a bar was 1) a Panthers watch party ( a road game that the team sponsors a group to watch a at certain restaurant/bar, with game prizes etc.) and when We had a sponsor by that bar. The team wore the jersey to the bar to show the owner how much we appreciated their sponsorship.
