If we can last another 500 years here, the Master-plan is to colonize Mars as a safety measure, to insure the survival of our species, should earth become uninhabitable for some period of time...

They are equally likely.

Humans will either evolve out of our current form or die out.

But since we've already started exploring space, the final frontier. True we have not yet had a starship enterprise (just a space shuttle), and no warp drive.

Since one has happened already, and the other is a certainty due to statistics and logic; they are equally likely.

However, I doubt we'd ever finish exploring space. And even if we do, there will likely be a new final frontier for us to learn/kill each other about.

Our merry kind will go the way of all species, extinct, but as to 'exploring the final frontier,' there is that doggoned distance thing. Gosh, it is a helluva long way to even the edge of our galaxy, wherever that is, and there are billions of galaxies. But who knows what the future may hold? Did we puling primates think a hundred years ago, in 1907, that our bold and noble folk would soon be walking on the bloody moon?

Since the final frontier are the oceans, I would say the extinction of mankind.

both seem possible in this day and age
humans are rapidly destroying the earth with pollution and gases etc as well as killing each other off even with mass over population.
but with modern technology we could see a new breakthrough in outer space findings and 'final frontier' expeditions , but my best bet is human extinction first.
unfortunatly we dont seem to be realizing the problems at the moment either :(

Well it all depends on what you call " final frontier".
If you mean the human "consciousness"then yes we will have to go on that journey. First know your own mind and then all questions will be answered if there are any questions remaining!
