There's hardly a science but there is a best way that businesses use. Basically you need to gather all the evidence then make the decision. The more experienced you are the better you become at it.

Think very carefully about all the possibilities. Then sleep. Next day, do something completely different and try not to think about the decision. Sleep again, and then make the decision early in the morning. If you don't have time, rely on emotions.

My spontaneous answer would be to weigh all the possible results and make a decision accordingly.

However, if I'm honest, the decision that immediately jumps out to be the right one always does turns out to be the right one... for me, at least.

If you have time, list the pros and cons of any possible action and pick the one that will have the most favourable outcome.

If it is a snap decision trust your instincts they're very rarely wrong.
