Harness and channel the energy to your advantage. Do not attempt to tie them to their seats (figuratively, of course!) and teach them "lecture" style. Instead, get creative! Teach geography and social studies by having them draw/paint a mural on the wall of the country, their state, whatever and locate major cities, universities, etc. Teach literature by having them act out scenes in class. Have a math brain game with flash questions,etc. You get my point. USE the energy, don't stifle it.

I've been trying to solve this problem for over 20 years and it keeps getting harder. But I would recommend taking breaks, short little music breaks that allow them to wiggle and move.

Read up on Quantum Learning, Responsive Classroom and or Positive Discipline. All these helped me.
