My sister is 11, and she hates it everytime that she gets her period, because she can "feel it come out." My mother and I don't want to let her use a tampon yet, because we don't want it to make her have internal problems. Thus she is stuck with pads. She has had a past with UTI, and i dont' know if using tampons would make the UTI more reoccuring or what? Somebody want to give me advice for my mother and i?

There is no minimum age as required. As ususally most girl get first period. They can use the tampons in first time. My suggestion to buy a tempex pearl junior size tampons. Whenever she need it, you can show her to insert the tampon insert her body. And make sure, tell her to change it more often. And can not leave it all day. It could get TSS. If I were you to read instructions on the package, it will tell you about TSS and show you how insert the tampon in the body.

I started using tampons with my very first period. I never had any problems.

It does not make you more susceptible to UTI or anything. They do not cause any problems at all. If she wants to use them, let her. There are special teen ones on the market that would be perfect.

There is no minimum age, just whenever the girl is comfortable with using them. There are tampons on the market that are made primarily for younger girls who have just started their period. The tampons are smaller and easy to insert. I believe Tampax makes these.

When you have your period, you are old enough to use a tampon. :) Tampons will not make you have "internal problems." Your sister, if menstruating, is allowed to use tampons. Start her out with the slender type.

There is no minimum age, it all depends on how comfortable the girl feels when wanting to use tampons.

Let her try them. Get the slenderest lightest absorbency plastic applicator tampon and try it out. I recommend Playtex Sport or Tampax Pearl Lites.

If she is getting her period then she is old enough to use tampons. They will not cause her internal problems. Just make sure she understands to change them regularly.
