I'm in dance at my school and my teacher has this little joke between the football coaches how we don't do anything in dance class (we really do lol) and she said that one day they should take it cause it helps for stiffness, balance and fast reflex/coordination. Hard work.

My boyfriend plays rugby, and we're taking ballroom dancing lessons together. It does make him more agile, I think. He's not faster or anything like that, but I think he can move better, less stiff, more fluid.

Should they be required? No, I think they should be required to be more academic and have higher GPAs - football isn't going to help them excel in their career as an accountant.

If you mean professional football players, I think it could be beneficial to put something like that into their training routine, but as far as a requirement, probably not.

Historically, the Scots (I believe) had to know how to dance so they knew how to fight, or fighting and dancing went hand in hand - something along those lines. Maybe she could bring that into her paper somehow.

It may be beneficial for them, but making it as a requirement is probably too much. It should be decided by their coach - some players may really need it, some other maybe need something else as an additional exersise. Just like for us dancers - some may need to take a stretching class, some need to do strength training.
