10k people are in Qual Comm Stadium evidently not getting into trouble, the evacuation plans for 250k people were efficient and fast, and FEMA actually is just now getting to the area, yet nobody is crying about how much the Federal Govt. is ignoring their plight? Is it because the San Diego's city, county, and state government is far better than the Ray Nagan led corrupt N.O. city government who spent more time whining and complaining than helping it's own people?

ideogene: nice excuses but it doesn't hold up. Government organization and planning kept this disaster from being far worse than it was, stop making excuses.

dude: yeah, or maybe San Diego has a far better ifrastructure for dealing with disaster not clouded by political grand standing.

capnbill: it wouldn't have been an issue if that inept local government had seen to repairing the levees like they were supposed to. It was a budgeted item, why didn't they do it? I don't know... corruption?

Apples and oranges? I don't think so, the problem is the fact that Nagen sat around and showboated. FEMA was standing by prior to the hurricane hitting. They were telling him they were prepared to step in, they even asked if he was ready to go with his evac plan. He became offended by the questions and sat around longer out of spite. Then when he finally requested the help it was too little too late.
Also, why is it that the citizen's of the city did not evacuate until it was too late. I live in FL, when the hurricane works its way up, you should already have a plan. I know I do...
But I think the biggest part of the question that is being missed is the part about the looting and why there aren't many reports of it happening. Demographics has a play in it, the beer comment while funny, isn't accurate. I think it has to do with the fact that the majority of the people there are too worried about the lives of themselves and their loved ones. Not to mention, it is kind of hard to loot a place when it is engulfed in flames!!
Good question though.

Many prayers have gone up & God has heard the prayers. We now need to thank God for the people who are making a difference & for the safety of people who are stuck in this situation. I thank God that their needs are taken care of with more than enouph & plenty left over. That the insurance companies will pay the cost. That the government will pay whatever additional that is necessary to reconstruct, etc... But, I think we need to look into what we (US) could have done to prevent this in the first place. Maybe we weren't praying enouph ahead of time. The Lord told me not to pray about the fires, but to pray for the people & their safety & well being. Also, thank God that there hasn't been more than 2 deaths known so far. God is surely giving favor & protecting people through this very difficult time. What the enemy has meant to destroy lives, the Lord has prevented many deaths.

You mean they saw a dangerous situation, tracked it and when the time came had a plan and followed that plan without permission from GW.
And that further the MSM is not reporting on people successfully taking care of business at the local level.
Surprise Surprise Surprise who would a thunk it

maybe becuase the city of san diego is not under 4 feet of water and still has all its services operating becuase the fires while big are actually only in very small areas versus a flood that destroys whole states
while that is alot of people to evacuate, its nothing compared to the millions that had to be moved with Katrina
youre comparing apples to oranges

Maybe,,,,Or maybe cities like San Diego saw what happened in New Orleans, realized that FEMA was no help and organized their own community assets to be prepared for such things. And now that organization and planning is paying off.

Smoke rises in to the air. A wall of water stays on the ground, after the levee breaks.
Try to get a visual on that.
Work that in to your equation, figuring who is most at fault with the situation in New Orleans.

There are alot of Mexicans in San Diego and they drink Corona not Heineken, thus no need to go looting. Plus they can just hop over the border when things get bad here. This question is just silly, San Diego is no New Orleans by a mile!

Is Qual Comm Stadium surrounded by water? How easy is it to get supplies to it? What is the per capita income of the areas affected by the fires? Do they have enough "evacuation capital" to succeed in their evacuation?
It's easier to run from a fire than the breaking of a levee. Once a levee breaks, you're doomed.

When Nagan finnally found a phone that worked (nice contingency plan) he dialed up a radio call in show.
He said: "Somebody better get off their a s s and do something."
That sums it up for me

It all revolves around the local and state leaders.
