I have PMDD, terrible cramps, and a horrible ...

Anyway, I want to have kids, much later in life.
Are there any dangers or risks associated with taking birth control this young?

No, I'm 17 and I'm on the pill and i LOVE it. When you are on the pill you have lighter periods ( i often forget I'm even on mine) and you don't have any cramps and you don't get pimples on your face before you start. It is great!!!!!
I want to have kids later on too but birth control isn't gonna mess anything up where i cant have them.
The only think they tell you that might happen once you get on the pill is that you MIGHT gain a little weight and you MIGHT be sick the first couple of weeks but for me i lost weight and i haven't been sick yet.
Now i don't know if this is a bad thing for you but the pill does increase your sex drive and it kinda gets on my nerves because the littlest things can make me horny now but its nothing really bad.

If i was you i would call right now and set up my appointment, because getting on the pill was the greatest thing that ever happened to me. If you have any more questions or concerns please feel free to message me at anytime.

Thank you
~Michelle

I have PMDD, and I have found relief only with the Yaz birth control. You are not putting yourself into danger by going on the pill at a young age, especially if you are doing it to control a condition such as PMDD.

Go for your annual check ups, and do not smoke. Smoking does increase the possibility of getting strokes/blood clots while on the pill.

The pill actually can prevent certain types of cancer, not many people know about that.

Your gyn will give you all the info and facts that you need. I assure you, Yaz may be very beneficial to you in regards to the PMDD. Good luck!

There's no risk at all on actually going on the pill, but some women's bodies react differently to others. Some women can go through a weight gain and become MORE moody, but I would totally recommend it, as it cleared up my acne and made my breasts grow a whole size (b to C haha), I didn't gain any other weight either, and while it didn't make my PMS any less, it made my periods WAAAY less painful, they are so easy and light now, when I do chose to have them.

The other great thing about the pill is that you can skip periods, and it is totally safe! (Just don't take the red pills. :) My Dr said that originally the pill had no red pills and women on it never menstruated, but the drug companies put in the placebo pills, because a lot of women didn't like not having a period.)

As far as I know there has been no evidence of women having trouble conceiving after going off the pill, it will just take your body a few months for the hormonal balance to go back to normal, but you will be just as fertile as you are naturally. You really need to ask your Dr about this so they can give you definite information, since I won't pretend to know for sure.

As a side note though, if you start to have sex and begin to use the pill as a contraceptive, you still need to use a condom too, because the pill is only around 86% effective, and when you are talking about a baby growing inside you, 86% by itsself is too risky for me. :)

Be safe and consult your doctor about it, She or he will answer any questions you have.

I went on the pill when I was 15 due to horrible cramps. I've been on it for 7 years and have had no problems. I recently went off birth control and became pregnant, so 7 years of bc has had no effect on my baby making. You do have to remember that every women is different, some get pregnant right away, like me and some do not. It's all very normal. You are still very young so you really have nothing to worry about. Trust me, the birth control will make your periods much better to handle.

Take care

Many gynecologists prescribe birth control pills to women of all ages for these symptoms- terrible cramps, irregular periods, etc. When you decide to start a family later in life, conception dates are different for different women. For example, one woman might only take a month to get pregnant after going off the pill, while another woman may take years. Make an appointment with a gynecologist and voice your concerns. They will give you an exam and determine if the pill is right for you. Good luck.

It's not any riskier at your age than it is at an older age.
You'll probably feel much better if you take it, and if your doctor prescribed it, he's already decided based on your medical history that the benefits outweigh the risks.
