I understand your point. The Republican Party as it is constituted today has many different “wings” if you will. There are fiscal conservatives who do not really focus on the moral issues very much. The fiscal conservatives care about things like a sound economy and a balanced budget (these people have been very disappointed lately). It also contains Law & Order types. Before 9/11 this is the type most attracted to Rudy Giuliani. Then there are the so-called Religious Right who go ballistic at the idea of two men holding hands or being wished a “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” at their local department store. These people are mostly made up of Salafi Christians with a few Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish people thrown in to make them look somewhat tolerant.
Many of the more sane Republicans are trying to shed their party of the anchor weight that is the Religious Right. Two of the organizations within the Republican Party fighting the hardest against the Religous Right are the Log Cabin Republicans and the Republican Liberty Caucus. I was once a Republican and it is largely the influence of the Religious Right over the O.G.P. (Once Grand Party) that caused me to leave.

Well, Rudy's advisor Norman Podhoretz (his main "expert" on foreign policy) says that the "World War" against the nonexistent Islamofascism nonsenser that Neo-Cons always talk about is World War IV. Newt says that the "Global War against Islamofascism" is World War III. This ticket would almost certainly be defeated as both of them are nutcases. Seriously, Giuliani is a Hitler waiting to happen (just look up Hitler's policies other than the Halocaust) and Gingrich is almost that crazy. However, Ghouliani is probably going to include Rev. Mike Huckabee, the warmongering reverend who is a member of the heretical Christian Right. If they don't have their guy for VP, the Crusaders will be unwilling to support Fascist Rudy. Personally, I think the perfect ticket would be Dr. Ron Paul (the anti-war Republican and Champion of the Constitution) for president and Michael Badnarik (2004 Libertarian Party nominee who isn't as much of a compromiser as Paul is; he teaches a class on the Constitution) for vice president.

Bet Rudi wouldn't be standing in front of Craig.
Seriously though, doesn't it depend on what moral values you're talking about? Some people talk as if there's only a few matters worthy of the name (gay rights, abortion and a few others) when there's the whole area of truth, justice, honesty, good governance, fairness for all - these somehow don't matter........................

No. One is a homophobe and the other has said it would be "okay" with him if Roe v. Wade as overturned.
America is sick of theocracy. No one would represent American values better than a conservative democrat.

After Clinton, I don't think many people care about morality in the White House. Larry Craig should abide by his word and retire to private life. Republicans wish he would.
