Could you mean Overtone singing? I am guessing you mean producing this effect with the human voice rather than technology!

Double tracking is the term when the singer actually sings it twice on a recording. Automatic Double Tracking (ADT) is where one performance is recorded onto two seperate recording tracks and then one of them is put through a delay process which means you hear two voices slightly out of synch with each other as would naturally happen if two people were singing at the same time.

It's an effect created in the recording studio called 'double tracking'. Basically the singer records the song, then records it again on a second track singing along to him/herself. If the singer singer sings in harmony to him/herself on the second track, it can sound like two singers singing.
Alternatively, an effect called 'chorus' can be used to beef up the vocal sound.
