You indeed can learn to forgive. I've had to do that to people who've hurt me and hurt me quite severely; but it takes some real practice, my Darling. (and to quote George Carlin "you gotta wanna!") I eventually came to as part of my own on-going healing process. I've just forgiven my friend who commited suicide, bless him. I'd much rather love him than not, so it's really in my own best interests to rid myself of negative emotions (although some days they are very handy).
Blessings, my Dearest.

Yes, you can learn to forgive. Can means, "having the ability to do something". We have the ability to forgive, but some of us choose not to forgive. I had a very hard lesson on forgiveness. Someone had done some pretty foul stuff to me after I was being kind to them. This person stole from me, tried to assault me and all kinds of assorted things. I had to take control of the situation and distance myself from this person.
When this person hit rock bottom, who was the first person this person tried to call? Me. This person realized how much trouble and pain they caused and was indeed apologetic. I had a hard time at first because all I could think about was how this person was. I didn't trust this person. Eventually with time and prayer, I learned to forgive. The thing is, I choose not to keep in contact with this person. It's one thing to forgive, and another thing to have to be around the drama. Sometimes you have to forgive and move on. There's nothing wrong with that.

I learned to forgive because I never want anyone to have that much power over me. What I mean is that if you do not or can not forgive then that person has made you hold that anger or pain inside. You are holding all that emotion inside and it will start eating away at you. Let it go and forgive them. Let them know that they can't stop your joy.

I think that forgiving could come to you as you grow older. What I'm saying is when you are young you experience everything to the maximum so it might be hard for you to forgive people. When you get older you calm down and you are able to see things from a different point of view.

Very true, I agree, it's very hard!
I think its a combination of using both heart and mind, and there will be times either falters, you just have to prop yourself up with the other one.
Either that, or it's humanly impossible to do so.
Sometimes I do wish for both a brain and heart lobotomy for certain events in my life that I have no desire reliving in my memory. Sometimes it still hurts like the first time.
I guess this is further proof that we are all more alike than we are different. If you and I are experiencing this, then so is everyone else.
kudos to the human race!

I think it's something you can learn and improve: I wasn't much forgiving in the past and as time passed I've learned how to forgive more (and maybe too much): it's something you can learn/improve with time and experience

I think it's something that takes serious hard work for some of us! I'm not good at it, but I try. In my opinion, some things just aren't forgive-able. Like cheating and lying; those are dead ends for me. If you cheat on me, you're gone. No forgiveness, no second chance, you're outta here.
I really do need to work on forgiveness, I suck at it.

Forgiveness is an act of will, not an emotion.

I can't stay angry with anyone for very long. Usually. Every day is a new day and anything can happen. I'd rather live my life looking for the postive than to dwell day in and out on the negative day after day. I've pretty much always been like this. I don't know why. It's a gift.
