when i go to college, should i shoot for the chamber choir or the opera workshop? or should i do both?

they both meet twice a week (on different days) for 1.5 or 2 hours.

what would be your advice?

I think it depends on what specified area you are looking for in grad school or job.

Chamber singers is a great way to be in a group format and learn a variety of music with all parts (SATB). Opera is more individualized and from what I understand, can be quite challenging to the voice. I think the experience of Chamber would be more beneficial and fun. Is it possible to take an Opera workshop on the side? You could do both, but as a freshman I might start with Chamber.

In terms of your college application, it won't matter whiich you choose. Choose the one that you enjoy most.

If you are planning on going to a Music School -- then it would matter. In that case, you should choose the one closest to your desired field of study.
