Does anyone have them right now? How do you get rid of them? They are grossing me out. They end up in our drinks and I don't even want to eat at home. Do they bite? We don't have any food out that they would be attracted to. I don't know where they are coming from. I live in a really nice apt complex. I wonder if I should call them to take care of the problem- what do you think of that?

There are many traps and sprays you can buy to kill those fruit flies. But the most important way of eliminating them is to locate their breeding area. Killing adult fruit flies reduces infestation but but elimination of their breeding area is necessary for good management.

Fruits flies can be around fresh fruits and some vegetables. Any fermenting matter attracts them that is why they love to stay around rotting fruits and vegetables. AND they can be also at drains, garbages and damp organic materials.

They are pretty annoying but very rare of them sting humans. However fruit flies can contaminate any of your foods too as they are going around unsanitary areas - that possibly can make someone sick.

Getting rid of them mainly lies on you.Try not to leave any fermenting foods or left overs- beer, soft drinks, breads, etc. Never keep an over ripe fruit or vegetables out.Garbage bin can be one of their hang outs so attend properly with your garbages. Keeping damp things in any corner can invite them so get rid of those things like wet mop or rags.Due sanitation and proper storage and disposal of attractants will greatly help in eliminating them.

It won't be difficult to get rid of them. However if you are in a community with fruit trees around, expect that there will be more to visit in your house.Fruit flies infest fruits and their number increases usually at late summer and early fall. Get rid of anything in your home that could attract them. Improperly dumped moist garbages in a nearby surroundings should also be taken care of. If you have done the things you are supposed to do, yet you fail to get rid of them, then you may go to the apt. maintenance for "rescue".
