The name is irish, after my husband's heritage. The middle name Brenna is after my mother who's name is Brenda. Brenna is the irish form. Also I spelled Raegan in a different way because I like it better. Most spellings are Regan or Reagan. Which do you prefer?

i dont mind those names seperately but i think names sound best when you stick to the different syllabels rule. Raegan and Brenna both have 2 syllabels. consider using a middle/first name with either 1 or 3 with Raegan or Brenna
and i like the way you are spelling Raegan, is there another family names that might flow better with it?

I think that it is lovely.

I love the name Raegan and I love the way you spelled it! Normally I don't like weird spellings but this one is not weird at all.

I think that Brenna is a charming tribute to your mother, and I like that you gave it the irish twist. It's lovely.

Ragean Brenna is very pretty and I like the repeated R sounds.

It means Princess, little raven, which I think is an adorable meaning too!!

Great choice Mom!

I would also consider Reagan Brenda. The D sound somehow makes the name's rhythm a little different. Pick the one that sounds best to you.

:) Good luck to you and Little Raegan Brenna!

If you truly want to honor your husband's Irish heritage, stick with the traditional Regan or Reagan spellings. Raegan is an American form. Or if you really want something "different," you could use the original Riagán ... but that seems unnecessarily problematic for such a common name choice, to be honest.

The Brenda/Brenna link is a controversial one, so if you simply want a similar name, it's a perfectly fine choice and likely most will see it as a fairly obvious nod to your mother. It is not, however, considered the Irish form. Brenda itself is a traditional Scottish/Irish choice. No Irish form required. ;) And Brenna's etymology is highly debated. Considered a variant of Brenda, feminine form of Brennan, variant transcription of Branna (the feminine form of Bran) or even related to Brynna, from the Welsh "bryn." So again, if a similar name is all you wanted, Brenna works, but if you wanted an actual form of Brenda, perhaps Brenda itself is your best bet (short of saving Brendan for a boy). :)

If you want some less common Irish options -- there are quite a few intriguing choices beyond those popular in the states, after all ;) -- you might find this site useful. It's very accurate, and there are even Anglicized spellings and audible pronunciations of each name, should you need them. http://www.babynamesofireland.com/

Hope that helps!

I'm afraid spelling it Raegan just makes it look as if you can't spell. Your daughter is going to spend her childhood being called "ray gun" by little boys, and "correcting" people who've spelt her name the way everyone expects it to be spelt.

If you want to call her an Irish heritage name...then call her an Irish heritage name. Raegan has no heritage at all, you made it up. Brenna is not after your mother, that would be Brenda. Why don't you just use Regan Brenda, honour both, and make life a whole lot simpler for your little girl?

Very nice name! I'm having a little trouble getting past the spelling of the first name, but that's just because I'm so used to seeing Reagan. Be prepared for people to spell her name wrong-a lot-if you keep it Raegan.

uh! I love the name Raegan! that's what I wanted to name my daughter but my hubby hated it :( I liked McKenna too but my hubby said that is what they call the stick the police use in Uruguay..... we ended up naming her Katia. and we used my mom's name for the middle too, Laura. Brenna is adorable and they go very well together. I was going to spell it Raegan too. good luck and i'm so jealous you get to use it! My hubby is from Uruguay and none of his family could say it either so it was just totally out. Congrats on your baby as well!

I love it...But you should test it out with the surname to see if it flows well all the way across. I had a dilemma when I was pregnant with my first child. I had my heart set on Trinity Rayne...but my surname prevented it. Trinity Rayne Sullivan doesn't sound pretty at all. I settled for Chloe Angelique. Now my surname and hers will be changing. And I'm soon to be having another. Kimberly Hayden Pendarvis or Daniel Lawrence Pendarvis.

I like the name spelled this way..Raegan, it's cute...
I don't think the two flows well, but a middle name is up to you.

I like that you want to name her after your mother...
God Bless you & your baby girl...
