Just your username/pass ?? Must be the root pass otherwise you wouldn't have a problem.

Boot in single user mode ("lilo" prompt a boot-up) - type "linux single" and this will take you to to "root".

There are other methods - Google for "forgotten linux password" before re-installing!

i hope you made a linux boot disk. if not, find your installation copy and boot from cd using it. it should allow you to log in as superuser or root user, and you could change the password from root. if not, go to this url: http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Bootdisk-HOWTO/index.html

Delete it and re-install it.
