Is there now an aura of fear that pervades Manila that will strike a heavy blow to tourism?

CDOguide you genius, I was merely asking people how the incident affected their lives. That's what I needed to know, so read the p.i. question first before you spout your p. i. diatribe. You didn't answer my question, nor understand it, but instead you accuse me of promoting paranoia. Don't tell me to read the p.i. news because people's sentiments are not printed there.
You always do this - you never answer the question, instead you always call to question the asker's integrity.
If I wanted your opinion I would give it to you, you trog.

Minimally, if at all.
I am not a mall rat, to start with.
But some people are paralyzed, even if they don't do malls. The fear that a bomb will explode somewhere paralyzes some. This is exactly the effect that terrorists want to achieve.
In my case, I say that when you gotta go, you gotta go. So when a Superferry was bombed, I did not cancel my reservation for a trip the following week. When airports and planes were being threatened, I continued with my travel plans.
The minimal effect is the heightened annoyance brought about by the heightened security. But then that is a small price to pay.

yes, there is now an aura of fear. more so because up 'til now, there is no concrete results to the investigations as to what is the actual cause of the incident :( circulating rumors and warnings dont help put people at ease either. neither are the politicians and groups trying to take advantage of the situation for their own personal gain.
i just read a letter from the husband of one of the victims... they were about to meet at G2 when the blast happened... it was heartbreaking... it made me realize that one should never take anything for granted, esp their loved ones... :(
here's a copy of the letter posted:
http://changgay.multiply.com/journal/item/5/A_letter_from_my_officemate_who_lost_his_wife_due_to_the_g2_boming..._so_sad
btw, UP said that if it was methane gas, there should have been a strong odor of rotten eggs... i think almost any gas present that could have made that much damage should have created a smell of some kind... although I am praying that it was an accident... :(

My sympathies to those people who lost a loved one. For me I heard of the incident 6 hours after it happend my wife was shopping at MegaMall at the time. I just pray that this was an isolated incident and not the start of some attacks. For the mean time I have requested my wife not to visit any malls for a few weeks out of fear for her safety. It is terrible the tragedies we are facing with terrorism in this world today.

My condolences Phoenix.
It scares me a bit actually. Since i ride the MRT everyday, i have this bug in my head telling me that bombing isn't like lighting. it can strike for the second or third time.
But i pray before leaving home & it keeps me sane : )
I'm also staying positive : )
Btw, the stock market already dropped 4 points.

It will probably take a long time before another bomb would explode the Metro.
Let's just not exaggerate things. It's still nice to go out.

You are just promoting paranoia. Read the latest news. Police are now saying it is more of a gas leak explosion and the blame is now being pointed at the Mall management (Ayala). The basement where the explosion happened did not have enough ventilation for the fuel tank (generator) and septic tank.
