Now days the term "Logistics" means that you do everything in regards hauling freight and providing transportation services. I work for a logistics company and we provide loading and unloading of ocean containers, warehousing services for companies that don't have a location in our area. We also have a rail siding so freight trains can bring in box cars full of freight and we can unload them and do the distribution for that company thru-out the 48 states. We also provide transportation services thru-out California. And there are many logistic companies that handle freight and distribution all over the world as its a global market now.

Logistics is a common name to be included in trucking companies names. It is associated with finding the best way to get freight from one point to another at a reasonable cost.

No its not, they most likely have a Harvard guy somewhere in the company, or just want to sound sophisticated.
