So we had a bit of a roach problem in our townhouse. The people next door never exterminated and when they left all the roaches (starving i assume) came over to our place. We have been exterminated, but in the mean time I have seen them out and about in the daytime. One time I felt one crawling on my head and another one crawled up my leg. I am so grossed out by this that it is keeping me awake at night. I put out 10 roach traps (but have only caught 2, so there can't be that many left) in an attempt to give myself peace of mind. However, now I always think they are crawling on me, I dream about it, I woke up in the middle of the night last night thinking one was on me. I keep thinking I see them out of the corner of my eye (even though my bf says there is nothing there). I don't even know how they survive, there isn't anything for them to eat..I am OCD about cleaning. Am I crazy that I keep seeing them even thought they aren't there? Will it ever stop?

I haven't seen one (a live one) in about 4 days. I caught some in my traps, they seem to be older than the other ones I was seeing. I just want to be able to sleep!!

No, you are not! They are terrible to have, anywhere, anytime. You do know, don't you, that the roach can live 9 days even without a head, because the roach starves to death, having no head! If you see one, you can count on there being many, many. Anytime roaches, etc. invade your living space, it is hard to NOT think they are there, when they are all gone. I can really understand why they are in your dreams, and why you feel them on you when they are not, now. Remember, roaches are from the days of dinosaurs, and they still are thriving.

No your not crazy! Roaches are the one thing that drive me to insanity though! I can not bear them.. I " freak totally out" when I see one. Now I am not a "gross out person".. no other bug does me that way .. I have killed poisonous snakes on my porch, though I usually try to shoo them away unless they were poisonous and near my children. But a roach and I become a quivering mass of ridiculousness. Like you... I see them everywhere if I ever see one.

I would start with sealing your windows and doors with tape and set off bombs again. There is a wonderful powder product that you can put under cabinets and places that will really help as well. Since you didn't have them before hopefully you can be roach free again!

The person who suggested getting the apartment next door exterminated had a great idea too. I remember reading that they can live on a single pet hair for a long long time so starving probably isn't gonna do it. A professional exterminator might help too, if you haven't had one already. I have one come and spray around my home and it works great. Good Luck!:)

I don't think you're crazy, but what I'm going to say isn't going to comfort you. First of all, those roaches weren't starving when your neighbors moved - they can live for a long time with "nothing" to eat except cardboard and their own dead. (gross, I know). If you're seeing one or two during the day, then you have a roach problem. They are most active at night and you are only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Get your house bombed/sprayed again and talk to whoever has the papers on the house connected to you to see if you can get them to bomb/spray at the same time - otherwise the bugs will just go back and forth to escape the poison. Best of luck to you!

Your story makes me think you are a candidate for moving to a cold climate...
I know about roaches, having lived in many climates but have never seen one where I now live...a very cold place!
That business of 'thinking' you see them out of the corner of your eye ... That's getting toward the edge. It might be therapy time. Good luck.

Roaches will live on anything, greasy & oily, which they can find in gutters or sweage pipeline.

The lifespan of a roach is 20 to 30 days, if u can stop them from laying eggs then u have contain them.

the part where u see them is in ur mind, and that can happen to a person, it will go away with time.

Gross, I know the feeling, we get roaches here in Texas too, nasty freaking things. I bought this stuff from Ace Hardware, Devil something or other, its a powder that you mix with distilled water. Spray it around the outside of your house, it will get rid of them. If you have animals, don't spray it in the house. But if you don't, you can spray it around the doors and windows.

Once you become aware of their presence even a hair out of place will signal that its one of them. I've had the same thing with spiders. It just take awhile of not finding them when you feel them to not waking up with the slightest touch.

good luck
