I mean really.

As long as you look at it as entertainment it's fine. Don't use an important yahoo account with your email and you'll be fine. Expect to be suspended and move on.

Some at yahoo have some dumb idea that these things can be used for "discussion" and then they delete posts at the whim of some wilting daisy of the day. It's ridiculous.

"You can have a discussion but only use the words we like, the language we like, the attitutde we like, the inflections we like, the spelling and grammar we like. Any questions?"

This was built for one reason only, to keep you addicted and clicking for their advertising revenue only. They only make up this whole "community" garbage to lure in the ignorant.

"The Answers Community" LMAO.

RESIST!

I agree that it is entertainment but every once in a while you get a little nugget of fact that maybe you hadn't considered before that makes you think.........

Now, at the same time, there's really no reason for people to be making threatening remarks towards others.
I can't believe that people even do that on a site like this... but I have seen it a few times. Ridiculous.

I think the Political Section needs a subsection: Bush Derangement Syndrome - Blame Bush for Everything
There's quite a community for that.

Oh, and Spleen, it's OK... we know you did it. No need to beat around the Bush.

Originally , YES , I thought this would be good discussion . And truthfully it was or has been for fleeting moments in time .
The crew who were the regulars last year was about 50% better than the current crew . No offense to any of the current good folks . I think you guys know who you are .

But with inane suspensions , and then inane responses from Yahoo , many good people left for good . For awhile they were dropping like flies . A slight, slight rebound has occurred and all I hope for is for the small trend to increase .

"Answers Community" = The biggest lying piece of garbage phrase ever . "Communities" have law . "Communities" have ORDER . There are about 3 or 4 'rough and tumble' sections on Y/A . Yahoo could and should have assigned several moderators to these sections and allowed them to answer questions and be clearly identified as Yahoo moderators . The mere presence of the 'police' would greatly reduce some of the insanity . They could easily warn some frequent offenders / Every Liberal who does not answer the posted question , and they could easily chastise offenders as well while noting their names as being given warnings , that way if they ever tried to appeal their violations or suspensions , Yahoo would have a better record of what's really going on .

It's quite typical that a Conservative like yourself would want law and order . It's also quite typical that the left would want chaos and anarchy . Afterall many of them relish anarchy anyways .

It is purely entertainment. occassionally you will have a good convo going but seldom. It seems a lot of conservatives get suspended as soon as they reach level 4 and the appeals process is a joke. I cant tell you how many violations I have recieved over stupid things and only once as YA said they will give back points and remove the violation. I dont use foul language or post blatantly derogatory commentary but will challenge people's narrow minded world views.

What do you suggest people actually do to "resist"?

There are thousands of users here at any given time so it is fertile ground.

As for the subjectivity of YA itself, well mabey they think they are being fair but to others they seem unfair.

There are other forums out there for political discussion but not many that are without bias as bad or worse than YA

I'm a bit surprised at the input here.
I don't claim to be any kind of great thinker, and most people on this forum shouldn't make this claim either.
It is a rather fascinating journey into the minds of others.
I'm glad that I have my problems.

I'm sorry the cat took a dump on your cornflakes this morning. But lighten up. If someone clicks their ads, what do you care. I like the fact I can counter radical statements from all extremes in here.

Now as far as can I get some GOOD answers? About politics? Forget it. Gardening, Automobiles, Travel, Technical problems I've gotten some great answers.

Looks to me like you've gotten booted or deleted for uncivil comments (probably more than once). And IF you don't like how YA works you can always go somewhere else to rant and rave.

I know my answer won't get picked as best. But this is a free country. You ARE free to go complain somewhere else--Or you can do it here. But if you pose your rant as a question don't expect everyone to agree with you.

Actually I find that this forum gives me the opportunity to really challenge my own opinions. Friends and family have the tendency to give you responses of what you may want to hear. In this forum I get responses that have genuinely challenged me and given me a chance to think, and for those who really gave a genuine response that gives me cause to think I thank you.

"A good discussion increases the dimensions of everyone who takes part."
Bourne, Randolph American author (1886–1918)

I had hopes, but most answers show preconceived notions, bias, and closed minds.

No, of course not. But it is fun and interesting. You are able to connect with a diverse audience easily. I don't see a lot of advertising on here.
